"Amazing cozy and elegant experience"

10.0

Stayed at Casa Cid de Leon for about 5 days around Day of the Death and the experience was amazing! The room I got was very original like staying in someone's home with a lot of touches and everything that is needed, definitely feels like you're staying at a place in a different century. We had 2 different rooms (upgraded after) and both were huge with everything needed! The staff was amazing. It felt like having family members around to help you with everything! Mario was there to give you all of the best recommendations as well as advice on locations. Emanuel was also there to help you with everything you needed and give you an unbiased opinion on restaurants and activities. Doña Marta and Lupita were incredible! It was like having your favorite aunts at the place. We had a toddler and they looked out for her, gave us traditional Oaxacan candy for her and made our stay incredible. The hotel is also very well located, close to everything. 2 blocks away from Zocalo, 2 from the pedestrian street and 4 blocks from Santo Domingo, you really couldn't wish for a better location

"Stunning and Magnificent"

10.0

We brought a small team to do business in Oaxaca and selected Hotel Cas Cid De Leon, due to it reputation, and the good things we have heard about the property. We were amazed....every room is very different, but quiet, beautifully decorated personally by the owner, Senora Letty. We met her and were captivated by her stories and her history....apparently this property was at one time her family home! Great location, breakfast on the upper terrace, exceptional staff who were also kind and generous with their time. Mario the manager was great to work with and the location was outstanding....walking distance to all of the best restaurants and shops. We loved it and will return!

"This Is Oaxaca"

10.0

Casa Cid de Leon encapsulates all that is to love about Oaxaca. We were lucky enough to secure a timeshare exchange to this wonderful location. This centuries-old building is so much more than an average hotel. The accommodations were unique displaying some of Oaxaca’s colonial architecture with a winding staircase leading up and up to a rooftop with plants, tables for breakfast, and a great city view. The location was supreme being just about block from the zócolo. The suite (we were in the Bella Epoca) was expansive and filled with antique trinkets. The water was hot and the bathroom stocked with toiletries. Housekeeping kept the room sparkling. Wifi was available and reliable. The staff was attentive with someone always at the front desk monitoring entry and exit. The hotel captured all the details (like hats to take out on a sunny day and cross-stitched room names tied on to the turn keys). It was truly a memorable stay that further enhanced our enjoyment of the city.

"Much More than a Memorable Stay"

10.0

I have stayed at hundreds, if not a thousand (gulp), hotels. Cid de Leon stands out as one of the most pleasurable of them all. Each room is unique. Each room is special, with varied pieces of ceramic, paintings, wall decor, chandeliers, nightstands, and even cherubs!!!! Very comfortable beds. We stayed eight nights, the last six in the Matrimony Suite. Every day we noticed something new. A very, very, nice breakfast is served on the roof. great vistas; sweet Latinas waiting on you and doing the cooking, Fresh OJ, large sliced fresh fruit, and lots of it; eggs your style (american or Mexican); and good, good, coffee. ...for $5.00. The personnel at the front desk (Loida, Mario: Manuel) and always at your service, always helpful and smiling. To top it all off, it is next to La Cathedral, by FAR, the best restaurant in town...

"Unique Boutique hotel. Great location."

8.0

This is a very unique hotel. The main feature is a winding wood railed staircase that connects to levels for the rooms. Each room is different. They are given names and are not numbered. Rooms are furnished with antique furniture. The room was quite spacious with a comfortable bed, satellite TV, desk, two sofas and a coffee table. The bathroom is a treat from the past. I stayed in Mio Cid on the top floor near the roof terrace which is a great place to have a good breakfast at a reasonable price. The preparation is done on the rooftop kitchen by two wonderful women. Full breakfast includes fresh breads, coffee, eggs, juice and a platter of fresh fruit. The staff is very courteous and will also book a tour for you and arrange hotel pick-up. The location is near all of the things you plan on doing in Oaxaca. Around the corner from the Zocalo, near the markets, good restaurants and shopping. I would have given it a higher rating but it has some drawbacks.Inefficient LED lighting. You must read at the desk or in bed. The air conditioner was not able to remove all the humidity from the room making it a bit uncomfortable.

"Small but wonderful boutique hotel"

10.0

On the top floor we enjoyed direct access to the terrace for breakfast and for sitting outdoors in the afternoon or evening. Staff was extremely helpful, including light washing and ironing, and they were thrilled with the generous tip we gave them. Excellent central location just steps from the Zócalo and from dining, cultural and shopping opportunities. We even were treated to a teargas-spiced confrontation between police and law students which caused some confusion but ended quietly. Each room at this hotel is different, and staff does not provide much guidance when choosing. Some are much larger than others, some are brighter, none is bad. You must be able to negotiate narrow stairways, especially for top-floor rooms, where we stayed. I believe reception staff speaks English -- I'm comfortable in Spanish so I'm not sure.

"December the month of festivities and celebrations!"

10.0

Oaxaca is beautiful beyond words. This small hotel is beautiful. Our accommodation for 2 was a bedroom and sitting room, plus bathroom decorated in beautiful antiquities and artifacts. Very friendly and helpful staff, as they arranged all our day trips to famous sites outside the city! Fantastic place to stay...was close to everything in central Oaxaca so able to walk to most city activities and sites. They do an amazing breakfast, cooked to order for a small extra fee! I will definitely return to this beautiful place and amazing city!

"Great Location!"

6.0

Absolutely great location! Central to all of the markets, squares, restaurants and shopping! Can't beat the location! Very nice staff as well! Clean, neat and safe. The only downfall is that you can hear everything! The first year we stayed, the hotel was not booked to capacity and it was very quiet and just a lovely stay. This year, the room about our room had very active guests! We could hear everything... talking, walking, etc... might want to check on your room location before booking. Weather there is a room above or a kitchen next to your room... also, the rooms are very dark. But again, location is great and so is the staff!

"Loved this hotel"

10.0

We stayed in La Dominica with the charming décor, private rock garden and extra bedroom. When we got to the hotel we were so surprised that it was such a beautiful and spacious room. Daily breakfast on the roof made for a great start of the day. The hotel is centrally located, walking distance to so much and the hotel will arrange tours for you at very reasonable prices.

"Friendly staff and very clean rooms."

10.0

My husband and I stayed for three weeks recently at the Casa Cid de Leon. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. If we needed anything, it was there. The Casa is very near the historic centre and a lovely pedestrian street with excellent shops and cafes. We walked everywhere easily because of the location. Breakfasts are served on the top floor terrace. We alternated between breakfast at the Casa and The Cathedral Restaurant two doors away -- the best restaurant in town. I highly recommend the Casa.
