It’s an amazing property, laid out exceptionally well so that each villa feels very private. Everything is spotlessly clean and well maintained. The villas have everything you might need for any length of stay. The pool and public areas are a dream for relaxation. We loved the location, just far enough from the busy area but close enough to be really easy to get anywhere. The host, Rheinhart and the staff are lovely - Alif was such a great help arranging a vehicle for us and always ready to help with anything. It’s quiet and peaceful and it was a joy staying here.

Nothing, everything was brilliant.

Incredible accommodation, deep in nature. The vibe is absolutely amazing, we have rarely been in a more peaceful and lovely place! On top the WiFi is good enough for video calls, everyone is super friendly and the pool area is a dream. We’ll ve back!

The peace and tranquility is second to none. In the middle of nowhere with only the sound of nature to listen to.

Nothing whatsoever

We chose Ranis Lodge as we wanted to try self catering for a longer stay in Langkawi. It exceeded our expectations as it was so easy to get anywhere on the island by car (maximum 25 minutes) and the facilities were so good and the staff so helpful. Reinhold (the owner) and Alif (the property manager) were delightful: so friendly and always willing to help organise trips or help with suggestions for shopping or restaurants. We also hired a car through them and honestly was the easiest car rental we’ve ever experienced! We were at the lodge, with hire car, within 40 minutes of landing…. And drop off was equally easy. The lodges are so well designed and set apart for maximum privacy. We chose a “jungle villa” near the entrance rather than the pool as we wanted a bit more space . We loved the tranquility and seeing and hearing the birds and monkeys around the grounds. The pool was lovely… never a problem finding a sunbed to relax on the days we didn’t go exploring. And the honesty bar with chilled beers and wines and soft drinks at very reasonable prices was a definite bonus! The bathroom was great with a walk in shower (also an outdoor shower in our villa) and the kitchen had a fantastic large fridge/freezer and lovely cutlery and china (very upmarket for a holiday home). There are many supermarkets in Langkawi (the larger ones very good, smaller ones more interesting!) so it wasn’t difficult to self cater and of course duty free shops to buy reasonable wine and beer. We love walking in the early mornings and the walk from Ranis down to the paddy fields was just gorgeous. We have a feeling that we may join the list of many repeat guests!

Everything really exceeded our expectations so we are nit-picking here… but perhaps for a longer period of self catering a wok would have been useful (we only had 2 saucepans and a frying pan for the hob). Maybe an oven/airfryer too (although there is a microwave) ? The fridge was large and very cold so it was perfectly possible to stock up and do some proper cooking in the evenings so some more equipment would be welcome. We loved the idea of a second (outdoor) shower but only having cold water made us stick with the indoor one! It would have been nice to have a few more restaurants to walk to, but the restaurant scene in Langkawi is very fluid so maybe a few more may open up in the future… . We were very happy with a fantastic local recommendation (Pia’s the Paddy) about 10 minutes drive for a couple of special evenings when we didn’t want to cook and there were many just a few minutes further and local roadside food stalls nearer. We often saw our neighbours going out to get takeaway food.

Very nice accommodation! The houses are really good and the environment is peaceful. We really loved the swimming pool. Also the staff and manager Alif is very friendly and helpful. The location is in the middle of the island, so a scooter or grab is necessary to travel around. But you can hire a scooter at the accommodation for a fair price.

We knew it when we booked, so it's not a minus, but it would have been nice that a breakfast or evening meal was possible. Because now, you always need to travel to eat.
