Very friendly and comfortable

Decent room, clean and perfectly serviceable, plenty of hot water for showers. Much better than some of the reviews make you think. I guess it depends what you're used to? Breakfast was good as well, cooked to order, served on a hot plate, decent quality and quantity. While I might not bring my wife here for a romantic weekend, I'd be more than happy to stay with mates or for a work trip, so will be back in future when I'm in the area.

The bed was reasonably comfortable.

The stairs were covered in threadbare carpet. The room smelt bad, despite the fact that the window had been deliberately left open, so the room was freezing. The room was not very clean and there was dodgy wiring everywhere. The bathroom was grim and needed complete redecoration to make it useable; one of the taps was missing and the shower had dirty grout and neither of us could face using it. The walls were paper thin and we were woken up multiple times by slamming doors, coughing and talking in other rooms. In the morning the entire hotel stank of fried eggs and we could not face trying to eat breakfast with the smell, so just left.

It's a lovely old house with amazing tiling in the hall and the downstairs is quite nice. The owners have only just taken over a month ago and asked us for opinions on things that need to change. They are doing a big refurbishment but obviously that will take time. He said if you come back next year you will see a vast improvement.

It wasn't particularly clean. The beds were fine though, The bathroom had no ventilation at all. The walls were very thin so you could hear neighbours talking. Our room was across the yard from The Cottage and some guy stood outside The Cottage smoking and coughing his guts up at 5am. One bit of carpet in the hallway was threadbare so was a bit of a hazard. Our friend's 'accessible' room had an over the bath shower which she couldn't access.

We were upgraded for a larger room, thus not sure if the booked one was competely nice Staff tries their best Free parking

Full English breakfast is ok but two toasts for two people is not enough. Dislike served instant coffee. No place to put toiletries in shower cabin
