The Talkhouse

Talkhouse is 15 mins from Oxford and we arrived in bad weather, room and pub very cost and staff are outstanding..so great. If there's any negative, I think cleaning details like corner, ledges, handles need attention, and an entrance may as it's an outside chalet.breakfast great and it's stay again.. it feels good to be there.

No heating or hot water due to a boiler failure so had to vacate the hotel. Requested a refund 5 days ago and still waiting.

I had stayed in this property with my partner 2 years ago and was keen to visit it again. I still enjoyed it but there was a little bit of wear and tear. It would be simple stuff. Perhaps washing windows, descaling kettle, a slight lick of primer on wooden beams ... simple bits and pieces like that. I did however enjoy it very much again and hope to visit it again.

The wear and tear. Kettle could be descaled. Windows washed occasionaly etc. The staff seemed a bit overstretched and also they were very young so perhaps less likely to appreciate things like this. But although young, they were very sweet

The staff and the main building

The outer building for the rooms felt ‘temporary’ and in need of modernisation. Damp smell was masked by cheap air freshener. No proper coffee maker eg plunger in the room. No rug on the floor. Visible mould in the shower.

Nice space, very traditional set up and very quiet. Staff on the first night were very lovely - accommodating, friendly and welcoming. Very quiet location, beautiful surrounding countryside.

The room could do with more furniture, the only place to put your things on had the kettle (which leaked) and bits on so very little usable space and the wooden floors were a little cold, lots of damp too on one wall. Staff on the second night were less than interested.

Convenient for Oxford, Blenheim, and other attractions, in a country location. Good bathroom, all the usual facilities such as teamaking.

Room a little basic. This is a motel style inn with suite of rooms each with own key off courtyard behind pub. Car park is across road.

A lovely quiet pub with rooms in a lovely village. Food is pretty good and service is excellent

Nice location and the restaurant was ok. Staff were friendly and there was ample parking.

Room 1 was next to the kitchen and the staff were very noisy until 11.30pm. This would have been ok if we were not having to get up very early the next day. Subsequently, my daughter had a very late night. Rooms tired and not as clean as they could be. Beds were small and there was no blind on the bathroom window of room 2. Curtains were thin and let in light from the courtyard.
