wonderful property

The Thompson was a perfect little getaway for us. We visited the Catbird, hung out by the pool, and enjoyed the area around us. We were on the 17th floor where it could get a little noisy from the street, but it wasn't too much of a bother. It was a nice stay and I'd do it again! :)

This has been mostly a disappointing experience. Hyatt has taken the unique Thompson brand and style and generic size it into a sub-W hotel model. This is all compared to the amazing Thompson Nashville and below that the Thompson Hollywood. They seem to have spent all their money on the lobby hallway. The rooms have unique furniture, but no warmth. There are only two light switches that turn on bright lights and only two small lamps that are partially dimmable. It is very sad. There is no dimmable lighting, Marshall speakers, snack boxes, or record players; they have taken the cool Thompson style and reduced it to the bare minimum. I always hoped more of the Thompson brand would get better, but it has never gotten better. It has only gotten worse as happened to Starwood properties when Marriott bought them. Very disappointing. In the software world, we call this Thomson washing. And let’s not even talk about the dining and restaurant options. Monarch is overpriced with overly sweet cocktails and a flashy scene. Very cold. The service is good though, and the food wasn’t bad. The Japanese restaurant isn’t even part of the hotel. You have to take the elevator up to Monarch and then walk up and exit stairway through a dark hallway past a set of bathrooms to get to the Japanese section. Their food was so so definitely not worth a special trip, but I guess if you live in Dallas, there are only so many option. All you have to do is The hotel website. Their videos their images it’s all so commercial and fake this exactly what the hotel is.

Great stay

My stay was okay, but this isn’t a true 5-star property. It’s more like a 3-4 star hotel, with no luxury amenities or special services you’d expect at a higher-end place. The rooms and public spaces show noticeable wear and could use a refresh. The hotel shares the property with a residence, so some areas are off-limits, and the pool is shared too. The pool area wasn’t well maintained, with leftover food and drinks around. On the plus side, the room was comfortable, and the TV had streaming. However, the walls are very thin, and noise from the halls kept me up, especially with a group of guests coming and going all night. The area around the hotel also wasn’t very clean, with quite a bit of trash and a large homeless presence nearby. Overall, it’s a decent stay if you expect a solid 3-star experience, but it doesn’t match a 5-star listing.

We expected much more from an expensive 5-star hotel. Instead, we got a small room with a broken coffee machine, vents blowing directly onto the bed, hidden charges everywhere, and unresponsive, indifferent staff. Really disappointed—especially coming from Hyatt.

For this to be a 5-star hotel, they fell short in some areas. The shower and bed hair random hair strands. The shower wasn't fully clean. The floors in the bathroom were also very dirty. They charge a daily hotel fee. The lobby was beautiful. Walking distance to restaurants.

The Hotel was phenomenon, and the customer service was excellent. I will definitely stay here again. The view from the skywalk was amazing.

The stay was awful for the price of this hotel the place just felt dirty in general. However the real issue is the general area around this hotel it is loud they provide ear plugs but they do nothing. I didn’t sleep at all and we just left as soon as we could. The area around this hotel is constant car racing street take over and the occasional gunshot.
