Guesthouse Khazar in old city

This place is warm Azeri hug, not just a guesthouse. It's a real traditional house in the heart of Old Baku, so full of charm and character. Most welcoming and generous host, he really looks after his guests in true amazing Azeri hospitality. Quiet, peaceful, away from any sort of noise and yet 5 minutes walk to the subway station. Very clean, great shower, comfy bed and it's not a dorm, the owner made it into individual single bed pods with wooden walls and even individual doors, bedside tables and lamps.

We really enjoyed our days in Baku and our host helped us understanding better Azerbaijan. Moreover, thanks to him, we discovered the pomegranate wine, very tasty! The guesthouse is in the middle of the Old City, near a metro station and at walking distance from other attractions. But it’s easy to get lost at the arrival, so the first time, I suggest you to meet the host in front of a gate, to be accompanied to the accommodation.

The host is super kind a d friendly. Very helpful and makes you feel very welcomed.

We liked the location. It is just in the center. The owner was a very kind and friendly man, he waited for us at 4 a.m. to check in and even came to pick us up in front of the Icarishahar metro in the middle of the night. He was eager to provide whatever we needed. He gave his metro card to us to hang out with the metro. If you travel with a low- budget and want to find a private place with a good price and in the center, this place is good to go.

The AC was not working properly. It could not cool down the room. We were dying inside of the room. The owner tried so many times to fix our AC, but he couldn't do much. Later we ended up taking a fan and using it. But still, it was too hot inside the room. Another thing we did not like was the refrigerator. We bought some food for ourselves; while the fridge could not cool it down either.

It was a great accommodation. We had a lot of music for not a lot of money. The location is fabulous, in the historic center and also close to the metro. The air conditioning worked and that was very important on hot days.

I would certainly fault the marking of the accommodation. We wandered for a really long time and we could not find accommodation.

Friendly owner, he's pretty much always at the property. Can give you some helpful advice as well if you need it. Very central location in the old town. AC in rooms was good. Only two guest rooms. Bathroom was good. Felt very secure at the property

Really hard to find as it's not the exact place on Google maps pin and there's no sign to indicate which is the right place. Very thin walls so when there is another guest you can pretty much hear their conversations.

There is kitchen for cooking. Farid is very friendly and he also lent us a metro card.

There was some problem on the check in, as we did not have the sim card in our phone to contact the host. But this problem could have been avoided if we let the host know in advance the time we would arrive, partly our fault.
