If you want a real Azerí experience, go to Khazar Guesshouse. Really nice and traditional Azerí place with all facilities, and very nice location, just in the old town. Farid is a friendly and helpful man, he treated me as a family member, with very interesting talks; he really care about guests, very respectfull and wellcoming. I spend one week there and I would repeat again.

The location was very good, right in the city center (old city). Pretty much everything was in walking distance.

The bed was way too cracky, it made so many weird noises. The small room did not have any heaters and it was very cold at night, the blanket was barely enough. other than that, the stay was great.

Location is great, even though it took us a bit of roaming every time we were getting back and trying to find the correct crescent. :-D Great value for the money. We saved a lot for enjoying Baku even more. Rooms and shared areas super clean and all facilities available. The host Farid is very welcoming and helpful, he even took us to show us around right after our arrival, then took us for a little shopping (he bought us a bottle of wine) and dinner (we all shared costs), but...

... the host Farid, even though he was extremely kind and friendly, we didn't feel very comfortable around him. Maybe because he wanted to be our protector, since we were two girls.. but we felt pushed to do what he thought would be good for us. One day, he even checked by knocking our door if we are still sleeping. I mean, hospitality is important, but when it is too much, it isn't appreciated. Farid was in the house most of the time and we felt we couldn't even go out without him knowing and wanting to join us. We might have been too sensitive, but we just didn't wish so much care and we didn't know if it would escalate to even more controlling behaviour. We stayed for three days. We enjoyed our stay, but I would go somewhere else next time, just to feel more free and not under control.
