One of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed, a truly magical location. The staff were beyond lovely and catered to every need, even let us tour the other rooms if guests weren’t staying. A trip I won’t forget, wish I could have stayed longer :)

Beautiful gardens and main house Our room the Gate house .. very Spacious and comfortable. Being GW Bawa’s country retreat ,the design and restoration from plantation and residence to its present form and gardens is magnificent.

Our hot water ran out at one stage .. briefly. We had a flight from Colombo at midnight and should have liked a late check out .. or at least a chance to shower before leaving at 5 pm for the airport 2 hours away. We stayed and spent our money in the restaurant as it was … why not provide a room to freshen up in before a late departure ? Please note the humidity is relentless and one really needs two showers a day anyway.

Very unique place, beautiful grounds, separation from other guests and quietness was very unique for Sri Lanka, staff were very accomodating and keen to impress

Quite a lot of bugs around the pool - but hard to avoid in such a jungle location - it was otherwise lovely and no bugs in rooms or anything.

If you have come here because you are a Geoffrey Bawa fan you could ask for nothing more. We were booked into a cottage in the grounds but upgraded to the guest suite in the bungalow. We were taken for a tuktuk ride to our original booking which was also uniquely amazing and a short walk from the main house. We enjoyed the tour of the grounds - do not miss this. Breakfast was fabulous, cooked to order on the terrace. Dont miss out on the G&T cocktail hour- various local flavours

The gardens and the history of the place

The Bed and bathroom comfort - Improving this will not remove the authenticity of the place. Our bed was max 140cm for a double bed and Bathroom and shower very tiny as well .
