All the staff are educated on the historical background of the hotel, respected architect Bawa, and are proud to do their respective jobs!

About the food, I don't think it is bad. The hotel is indeed the most impressive in Sri Lanka. However, it was not the best meal in Sri Lanka. The portions were a bit much for us. A little less and more variety of flavors in each dish would make it more enjoyable for a few nights.

Staying at the estate was one of the highlights of our visit to Sri Lanka. We are fans of the architect Geoffrey Bawa so it was a privilege to stay here. The attention to detail, the staffing, the food at this exquisite but understated property was a dream come true.

A unique place and experience. It is all about Geoffrey Bawa's vision and how this has created such a beautiful and relaxing estate. The architecture and design details are wonderful. You feel privileged to stay there and this is further enhanced by wonderful staff and food.
