Residence Inn Richmond Midtown/Glenside

We recently did a two night stay at this hotel. Pros: Spacious rooms with full size kitchen. Very very clean. Plenty of parking. Friendly staff. Has a nice bar area (we did not partake because we had our kids with us). Basketball court was a nice touch for kids. Easy check in and checkout. Cons: Hot water in the evenings was hard to come by. Our showers in the evenings were cold but water was fine in the mornings. This is a pet friendly hotel and one can expect a bark here and there however, on our last night, the room above us had two dogs who barked and ran around for hours (7PM to after 10PM. I can only assume the owners were out when this was occurring). The front desk was very nice about it and offered to move us, however, it did not seem worth the trouble at 9PM. All this to say to keep in mind it is pet friendly and if there is a dog above or beside you, you will hear their every bark :) All in all, we would recommend staying here to others if they are in the area.

I truly wanted to love this hotel. I picked it because of the amazing 9.1 rating. To start off, the staff was pleasant. I went to the front desk twice, and it took about 5 minutes for someone to show up, though, and it had a pretty lobby and dining/ bar area. They had free cookies, lemon water, and popcorn at the front desk area. Right when we got into the room, I noticed it was muggy. But it was hot out, so it wasn't a big deal, but the room was large and nice. I have a habit of checking mattresses for bugs, LOL so, I pulled the main sheet up and the fitted sheet and noticed that there was a mattress cover that had blood and stains on it almost like someone was picking their nose and they wiped it on there. Disgusting. Also, there were stains on the headboard. Breakfast was decent, so I had no issues with that. They had some type of meat (changed daily), eggs, and really good home fries. The Belgian waffles were really good the one morning. We were there for my child's competition so we decided to go to the pool after it. There was so much chlorine that it fully died her entire brand new bathing suit that was bright purple to a pale purple, almost looking white. And it completely fried her hair. I couldn't even comb through it no matter what we put in it. Even after a few days, there is still a waxy substance to her hair and clumps together. This was very upsetting due to having to put my daughter's hair up for the competition and have it curled, and it did not go well. The number one issue that I had with this facility was how loud it was in the room all day and all night from having our window at the four-way intersection. Every 10 to 20 seconds, there were very loud cars / trucks / motorcycles flying by. Almost like they were racing. Truly, it sounded like they were in your room half the time. To top it off, there was a light shining inside the top of the windows from a light post right outside the room.

The hotel staff was so friendly warm and welcoming when we arrived. The room was very nice and clean. The staff were very nice on day of check out when a tornado warning had come across. Great experience I will be back.

Mark is the best of the best. He did his bestest:) to accommodate me! I really did appreciate it! I think he deserves a bonus for top of the line Customer Service! He gave me the top floor and the type of room I requested, as well as late checkout! I loved the quietness and cleanliness!
