Relaxing Guesthouse - Sónias Houses

Unfortunately, despite Sonia's helpfulness, the stay was not pleasant. The room, whose photos are overly flattering, is a basement with serious mold issues. Even with the (very noisy) dehumidifier running all day, the mold smell was overwhelming, and the sheets felt almost damp, making it very uncomfortable to sleep. I had booked for an entire week, but after three days, I had to move to another accommodation because this place is objectively not suitable for renting.

The room was clean, but we found some cockroaches in the house!

It was not the same house of the ad, the host said she had an overbooking, so she accommodated us in another house, in front of the train station and a park, so it was super noisy at night. In the ad it said there would be a flat screen, but there wasn't, but she proposed to get one!

The room was on the ground floor, so the air was a bit stale, but we certainly had a good stay and the host was great. In the common room you could make coffee and leave your luggage if needed. You can get to the city quickly by train, and the taxi is not expensive either.

Checkin was very good detailed, very easy. Quiet nice area Very clean small apartment, not many people around, very sufficient big room with double bed, desk, 2 chairs, wardrobe, book shelves, bed side light. Common bathroom and kitchen are very close to all the rooms. Free coffee, tea, appliances clean, working well. Ropes in front of the room window to hang any clothes for freshening, drying. Tilt open windows for nights. Nice colors and plain new decoration in the room. Hooks on the wall to hang clothes, towels. Sonia is very careful and easy to communicate with.

All was good. Only the train sound early in the morning as the windows were tilt open to get air.

Location is a bit far away from anything

The property is located near a train station. We found a few local restaurants with fair pricing and good food. It's a great location if you're on a budget and not interested in pricey tourist locations

The bed was so so. The shower took a little work to get a good temperature.

It is very dark inside and there is little space. The space looks very nice in the pictures, but it's not like that in reality. The apartment is under the house. It is very humid inside, the walls in the room are moldy. The window is very small and the view is not pleasant. Barking and making noise. Very poor sound insulation. Very neglected and dirty yard. Before departure, the hostess had written from early in the morning that we had to leave by 11 am and the housekeeper started coming from 9am to tidy up the premises.

It was close to the metro station and the kitchen set up was useful!

The room was quite damp, despite there being a dehumidifier. On the first night we arrived, the bed sheets were literally wet from it, and it was not nice to sleep in them at all. The first night there was also a loud party going on close by as well as the next door neighbours dog barking constantly (neither of these things were the hosts fault of course) but they were frustrating nonetheless and I feel it’s worth knowing if you’re booking for a quiet break that it can be a noisy neighbourhood. One of the nights we were at the property, we had people trying to get into our room in the early hours. After contacting the host, we were told this was because the host had accidentally sent the incorrect check-in instructions to some other guests. There was a bad language barrier (the other guests were German and we are English) so we were trying to pass on messages from the host to them but they couldn’t understand us or the hosts WhatsApp messages. My partner ended up spending 30 minutes helping the other guests get access to their room in another block of apartments at almost 1am in the morning and after being woken up in such a fright by someone trying to get into the room, we didn’t sleep very well after that. The host apologised but it wasn’t very nice being woken up and having to help the other guests on the hosts behalf. The host told us she had attended to help the other guests but I think by the time she arrived my partner had already assisted them. All in all, I don’t think we’d stay again. It was a noisy block/neighbourhood with a lot of pets/dogs in the building that were very noisy day and night and the room was basic and had a bad damp problem despite the hosts attempts to combat this it was still an issue. We ended up having to have the heating on, the window open and the noisy dehumidifier going all night to make it habitable which just wasn’t ideal at all.
