Hostal Cann's House

I wish I could give this property more than a 10. it’s the best place I have stayed at in years. Nelly the owner is the most wonderful person and goes out of her way to make you feel welcome. From picking you up at the ferry/airport to dropping you off everything is PERFECT. Her breakfasts are the best, the Hostal is spotless and so beautiful. I doubt I will ever find a place as welcoming as Hostal Cann’s House

We especially liked the amazing host Nelly! she is a wonderful person and made us feel at home. Also so breakfast was very good, with different yummy dishes every day! The outside area of the hostel is unique decorated with a lot of cute details and invites you to relax!

The host is kind and gives good recommendations. The rooms are clean and very comfortable. They have a nice outdoor shower. You can borrow snorkel equipment.

When we originally booked this hostel on Booking.com for 2 nights, we booked here because we saw amazing reviews. We expected to pay for the basic room and received an email “Thanks! Your booking is confirmed at Hostal Cann's House“. However, we received a message at 4:12pm on the day of check in saying that the room was unavailable and we needed to pay more to stay at Hostal Cann. We did not receive enough notice as we were on the 3pm ferry without any cell service, so we walked to this hostel with our luggage. We found it unfair that Hostal Cann was not able to honor the rate we booked at, especially given the last minute notice, but the host blamed the error on Booking.com. The host was willing to settle for the rate that was 25% more than we originally booked for a room with a Sea View. During the first night the air conditioning was leaking on our head while we were sleeping. We followed the instructions and had the air conditioning on at 22 degrees, however at 3am we heard a loud noise and the air conditioning stopped working. We informed the host during breakfast and by the afternoon she had a solution. There was a portable A/C unit moved into the room. We let it run for a few hours. However, by 9pm the room was still very hot (warmer than it was outside) and it would have been miserable to sleep in the room we paid a premium to sleep in. The host was flexible in moving us to a different room, and the room she moved us to was the basic room that we had originally booked. I would not recommend this experience, seeing that we paid 25% more than the original amount when 1. we received very late notice that the room was unavailable 2. The first night the air conditioning over the bed was leaking 3. The second night we slept in the basic room that we originally booked. Also, the breakfast was a fried cheese empanada and sausage on the side. There was good fruit and fresh juice though!

Hand soap was very unsanitary and has a lot of flocculent mold inside. Our room was very small. And the shower was so confusing and they didn’t tell us how to use it. Unfortunately no one were there to ask at night when I want to take a shower. It’s unfriendly for English speaker because I can hardly communicate with the staffs. The stairs were so narrow and made it very hard to carry the suitcase upstairs. And this has nothing to do with price, I stayed in another hotel on San Cristóbal island, the price was comparable but it was way better than this hotel.
