Bathroom not great, no shower curtain, difficult to have a shower

I arrived early the staff were very friendly and helpful allowing me to leave my rucksack and go off for a walk. We pre ordered an evening meal which we both enjoyed .

After a 3-night stay at the Station House Hotel, I feel compelled to share our experience to help future travelers make informed decisions. Arrival & Access: We arrived at 10pm and discovered that the only entrance was via a metal fire escape with minimal lighting. This was particularly challenging for us as my wife and I both have arthritis. The handrail was difficult to use due to plastic cording wrapped around it, and there were overgrown vines at eye level. It would have been helpful to know about this access limitation before booking. Room Location: The pre-arrival email indicated our room was on the first floor, but after searching unsuccessfully, we had to call the owner and learned it was actually on the second floor (attic level). Temperature Issues: The attic room was extremely cold (outdoor temperature was 1-2°C and felt similar inside). The main radiator wasn't functioning, and the room had multiple draft sources: a single-glazed full-length door with visible gaps, a drafty skylight. A portable radiator was provided but was insufficient for the large space. Bed & Amenities: The bed had a thin mattress on a metal frame that was uncomfortable and cold to the touch. Bedding felt cold and damp, requiring us to sleep in additional clothing. An old refrigerator in the room made disruptive noises throughout the night. Morning Light: Without blackout blinds on the skylight, we were awakened at dawn. Resolution Attempt: After the first night, we requested a room change, which was accommodated without apology. The new room (Avonwick) on the first floor was smaller but nicer, though still without functioning radiators initially. We continued to rely on the portable heater. Improvements: By our final night, the heating was finally working properly, and the bathroom had adequate hot water for the shower.
