Akih Pods Hostel

Very nice hostel. The owner is very helpful and the hostel has a great vibe! When coming to Santa Teresa I would recommend choosing this hostel.

The location is a big plus, but overall, not great value for money. The fridge is huge, well-organized and quite clean compared to the rest of the kitchen.

The 6-bed pod dorm is absurdly small, leaving no room to move. Overpriced for what it offers. Only two showers for way too many guests, leading to constant waiting. The kitchen is messy and has only one sink.

Very clean, have all you need, the pods feel very private, wifi worked wonderfully even in room, staff is very attentive and detailed!

Supermarket is almost nextdoor and the beach was a very short walk. Even though they were doing some construction in the communal garden they were very considerate and it didn't wake me up or keep me up. The staff was very friendly and welcoming as were all the people there. The cat even sat on my lap to get some attention. Small and sweet hostel that also does board rentals. You are allowed to smoke in the communal areas (not under the roofs/around the kitchen). Plenty of places to sit and meet new people. The hallway was cleaned multiple times a day from any sand, dirt and leaves. The toilets and showers were clean and they had sizeable lockers to even lock away full backpacks (if you want). The bed lights were good and also had a power socket next to it.

Even though it's Akih Pods, it doesn't offer many pod beds. Most beds were just (sturdy) bunk beds. More hammocks would've been nice. The beds were uncomfortable and seemed old. The middle felt like a wooden plank so you had to try and lay on the edges to be comfortable. I think too many people have laid in the bed so it not longer offers support in the middle.

Big kitchen, big fridge and space to cook. Big deck to stretch and exercise. Nice people working onsite. Proximity to everything, town is not that big and you can find easily everything you need in a few minutes walk.

Bedrooms are small, the bunk beds are in wood so you don’t bother other people, but 9 in one room that small? Only 2 full bathrooms and toilet. Luckily the day the hostal was full was my last day. I can’t imagine. Everything is wood. After a few minutes you can’t find a comfortable place to sit or rest (except for the hammocks if it’s not raining). Not suitable to work remotely. I was able to manage cause during the occupation was half the capacity and people most of the time are outside, but no comfortable chair to sit.

Very social hostel! Good value for what you pay. Good volunteers! Close to everything.

The bedrooms are super small but you're basically just in there to sleep. Aircon is way to cold.
