Five Bells Wickham

It is a lovely old pub with lots of character although none of the staff could provide any information into the history which is a shame. It is very clean and our room was lovely with a nice deep bath.

The menu doesn’t state there is a gratuity added and none of the staff mentioned it either which I found a little rude. Also the tea and coffee facilities were outside our room and they are shared by everyone staying so a little inconvenient I would prefer them to be in my room. We had the ground floor and unfortunately you can hear every movement above us including the toilet flushing.

This is a gem of a place that was everything we wanted. It was cozy and room very clean. In the bar, they serve a good selection of local drinks including craft beer brewed on site. Lovely gardens to sit and enjoy the fresh air and of course the drinks.

Would have liked to have a meal when we arrived around 5ish but were told in advance the kitchen closure time so we were prepared for this.

Lovely looking place. Lovely welcome. Beware there is a 12.5% gratituty fee added to your bill you are not told about. What was good - clean & tidy Poor- Room very small. No mirror in the room. Mirror in bathroom but not good if you want to dry your hair. Nowhere to put your clothes. Nowhere to put anything really. Room v tiny - room 4 Special request was I needed there to be a bath - was told this was accepted however it didn't happen. If you want a cup of tea in the morning you have to get up get dressed and go to a communal area downstairs to make it. Not good when you're up at 4. No kettle- instead you get your hot water from the coffee machine that isn't hot. Breakfast ! Now 3 other guests mentioned this. Full ENGLISH does not include toast, we were told the toast has been replaced with a hash brown ! Not sure why it's called Full English certainly isn't. Toast is extra £4 two of the thinest slices of bread I have seen.

Lovely pub accommodation. Good location for our trip - quick access from M4 Hungerford junction. . Comfortable bed. Well appointed bathroom. Communal tea making in a lobby - but worked fine. Only slight downside was breakfast - no toast offered with full English. When requested we were charged £4.20, a bit steep for a couple of slices. Maybe review that slight parsimony mamagement?

The staff were so friendly and the whole place was clean, food was delicious and the atmosphere was welcoming. We could not fault our stay at all. Gorgeous pub.
