Sealofts On The Beach

Well equipped with 2 bedrooms and shower/toilet upstairs and additional shower/toilet at ground level. Views of the sea from the balcony. Joyce was very helpful with an office nearby. Good bars and restaurants within walking distance.

It is next to the seafront but there is no beach here. The beach at Timothy Bay is a 10 minute walk away. Taxis are quite expensive so a rental car is recommended to get around beyond the immediate area. Bedding was OK but not top quality.

We loved the quaint and quiet atmosphere of Sealofts. The simple, cool design of the interior made us feel right at home. We enjoyed having coffee on the deck and were able to walk over and sit on chairs overlooking the ocean each morning. The proximity to stores and restaurants was very convenient. Joyce, the property manager, was super-efficient and helped out with all pertinent information. She, along with other staff, were very warm and welcoming. This was exactly what we were looking for! We would definitely stay here again!

There wasn't anything to dislike.

Location, and it was quiet and close to amenities. They are all individual owned, so they are all different. Lovely ocean seating area, and pool.

The ocean view units are close to the water and you can readily hear the waves. There is a good ocean view from the deck-- not the lean out over the railing for a glimpse between the buildings that some properties call ocean view. There are many good restaurants in easy walking distance. Also groceries (the best one is near the Marriott), a good wine shop (across the street), and a pharmacy (also near the Marriott). Sealofts is right next to the Frigate Bay taxi stand, so getting a car is easy, though you may need to pre-arrange your return ride. (All in all, one would probably be better off renting a car if staying here.)

The air conditioning in our unit is old and needs to be replaced. It was not able to keep the unit cool during the day. There were also some less critical maintenance items that contributed to a less than ideal stay. The Saint Kitts water department sometimes shuts off service overnight to conserve water. This happened one night while we were there. (There was also a water main break one day, which was repaired in a couple of hours.) There is no easy access to the beach from this property. While the description is clear that the Sealofts waterfront is not for swimming (the Atlantic side waters can be pretty rough), it was still disappointing not to be able to get onto the beach and walk around. There is an access through a side gate, but it involves going down a fairly steep sand embankment. (If you could get onto the beach, the Marriott beach, which is safe for swimming, would be about a 5 minute walk. It's more like 10 minutes going around the land side.) We were disappointed that the main bedroom balcony did not face the ocean. Some units do and if this is something that matters to you, check with the property before booking.

Great view of the ocean. Short walk to the taxi stand, grocery store, restaurants. Slightly longer walk to the beach.

The kitchen could have been better stocked. Many of the normal utensils for cooking were not there. For example, can opener (staff did purchase one for us), blender (leaked), no spatulas, serving spoons, napkins, etc. DVD player did not work.
