The Rockaway Hotel

Given that I paid the most I’ve ever spent on a hotel room for such a small space. I still expected it to have a very basic things like…hangers. This was a real splurge for me, and I was really surprised that while it had some nice things like robes, there was not even a kettle or anything to make hot water in the room – had to request that. No hangers, no iron or steamer, etc., etc.. I know they’re trying to get you to spend money in the restaurant by not providing coffee and tea but I guess I was just a little surprised given what I was paying. I know many hotels now don’t have refrigerators, etc. for the same reason and for cleaning purposes, so I’m not even expecting that anymore. And the staff was hit or miss. Somewhat limited food options in the area.

The hotel is nice, the staff was friendly, the room clean and quiet. The restaurant near the pool offered a nice dining experience, and the rooftop had fantastic food and a great atmosphere. Despite the cool day, we enjoyed swimming in the heated outdoor pool.

The room was very small. The neighborhood is not pleasant. While it's a short walk to a beautiful beach, the surroundings on the other side are less appealing. Additionally, the parking garage is not located directly on the property.

Accidentally booked wrong hotel one night when my flight was cancelled at jfk and tried to cancel via expedia within 10 minutes. The hotel refuses to refund me, charged me $600+ for one night that I never got to enjoy. I heard great things about this place but the desk staff have given me the runaround regarding a refund or credit for this one night'd mistake booking,

Beautiful decor and clean and well thought out. I liked the welcome when you arrived and received a glass of fizz, nice touch. The view from our room was amazing to look out into the Atlantic. Nice roof top bar and views at as well.
