Gioan Boutique Villa

We had a great time at Villa Gioan. The hotel is located close to the old quarter which is ideal for cycling and walking. The room was comfortable and cleaned daily. The hosts were pleasant and helpful, offering a range of activities. They helped us book a night bus when all those on the internet were fully booked.

The people who run it… Han, Ho and Vina (hope I spelt your names right🤣) are amazing - along with 11 year old Kimi and baby Leo. They speak English very well, and you can ask them anything. A short flat walk to the old town - about 15 minutes. We had a great time here and will stay again if we return to Hoi Anh. Also I read previously that you had to buzz to enter the gate…. there is now a fob so you can come and go as you please.

Such wonderful hosts. So helpful and accommodating. Nice pool. Decent location to Ancient town. They run a cooking school and it seems to be very good and popular.

Well….. - We were on the 4th floor. Many stairs up. If you struggle with that, it’s something to consider. - The room, Specifically the shower room had a very strong mildewy smell. None of the windows could open so no ventilation, which would have been so helpful. - The hot water took 5 minutes to get hot. So everytime we’d shower we’d need to run and waste water until it was warm enough. The water pressure was often VERY low (trickle). I’d message the owner and she’d tell me they had turned it off. This happened a few times. Kinda frustrating. - the beds, specifically the king bed, was really hard yet lumpy. Like a bump in the middle. They tried their best to make it more comfortable with extra bedding but it really didn’t help. - lastly… I really feel I over paid. Among all our stays in Vietnam, this was the most expensive, and unfortunately are least favourite stay. When I look at prices now for the same room it’s much cheap. So prices much have gone down. 4 nights cost me $550 Canadian. *Also important to note, you need to duck to enter the bathroom. I’m 5’6 and I need to. Once inside the ceiling is tall enough for a 6’2 person. Any taller and you couldn’t stand up straight*

I recently stayed here and would definitely recommend it to others. My room was large and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful - arranged some great tours for me, recommended a tailor, etc. Although not right in the ancient city, it is just a short walk away. And the price is quite low - good value for the money. Thanks for a great stay!

Great location near the old town. Extremely helpful staff who showed us where to go for food and activities. Booked and organised tours for us. Delicious breakfast. The cooking class was lots of fun.

This is a great option for travelers on a budget - the staff were wonderful, really cannot say enough about how nice the owners are, and the villa is not a bad walk to town. They also have a cooking school which looks great although we did not take the classes ourselves. A safe and clean base from which to explore Hoi An, would recommend to backpackers.

We had a top floor room which must have been by their water pump (something mechanical) so it was a little noisy throughout the night. The only accessible plug was above the headboard meaning it was by one person's head when you sat in the bed.. a little tricky to try and charge your phone overnight. We were staying during a rainy time in Hoi An so the room was musty and damp even with the ac/dry function on.

Had a fabulous time here. My family absolutely loved the cooking class that was offered. We enjoyed the lantern releasing on the river that was organized by the hotel as well. Definitely made our holiday more special.
