Aloft by Marriott Knoxville West

When aloft (sic) opened in Asheville, NC, guests used to talk about it like it was the Waldorf-Astoria, therefore, I was always curious about the chain. We just stayed in this aloft for three nights, our first experience with the chain. The room was fine (quiet, clean, Spartan decor which is a la mode now, lots of hot water). The breakfast options if you choose to eat there are pathetic. It truly cheapens the feel of a hotel to be served breakfast in a paper sack. All the food is prepared behind a closed door and delivered to guests in this manner. The hotel “store” consists 99% of junk food (chips, soda pop, cookie packages, manufactured food), but they do have yogurt for sale. Fortunately, there are many dining options near the hotel which is located right off I-40. The best thing the hotel has going for it is Jessica who works the front desk in the afternoons and evenings. She has her customer service skills polished, and we appreciated all the attention she gave to us, especially selecting a room away from the highway at our request. Jessica would be an asset to any hotel’s team. This hotel is quite a distance from downtown, if that’s an issue. Interstate-40 is one busy road, but it will take one directly to downtown exits.

Great hotel, and Ben at the front desk was kind and helpful when we arrived. Rooms are spacious, clean, and well stocked with towels and toiletries.
