Whisky Point Resort

Wherever you are in the resort, you just send a short message and the friendly staff bring you whatever you want (drinks, towels, breakfast, snacks…anything). It’s not rude. It’s not a favour. It’s how it’s done. The Italian menu has some Sri Lankan staples, but do not miss the Gamberetti (marinated prawns wrapped in bacon……wow!!) and expect the food to cost a little more than on the street. After all, a lot of it is genuine imported Italian ingredients and they’re always delivered to you within a few minutes. Loved the hammocks. Loved the puppies on the beach. Had a refreshingly long swim or two.

Some may not like the lack of A/C, but there are thoughtfully placed fans in rooms and dining areas and the seabreeze allows you to strategically avoid the worst heat of the day by using the lounge cabanas

From the moment you arrive, you already feel looked after. The entire staff make a great team effort to take care of every little thing, from tailoring special trips to your needs to supplying unlimited drinking water. They were also kind enough to let us check out VERY late (8 p.m.) at no extra charge, which meant one more wonderful day on the beach for us <333 And it’s hard to beat sleeping to the sound of the waves… Whisky Point Resort is the ultimate spot for relaxation and I will definitely be back next time I am in Sri Lanka!

One of the best stays I ever had. Beautiful hotel, beautiful location and beautiful staff. It is located 20min from Arugam Bay towards north, at a very peaceful and quiet place in front of the beach. There are not many other places to stay around so the beach was almost private for us. Only locals came to swim as well. Our goal was to surf, and at this time of the year there weren’t waves at Whisky Point beach yet, but the hotel arranged us a tuk tuk rental and we could perfectly move around the coast. Good thing about this spot is that is closer to the Lighthouse surf spot which is way less crowded than Arugam Bay and Peanut Farm. The resort is built and decorated with so much style! They take a lot of care to have it tidy and clean all the time. The rooms are very comfortable; we stayed in both Cabana and Pagoda and honestly we loved them the same. Pagoda doesn’t have a bathroom in the room but it was very close downstairs and never busy. The staff was the highlight of our stay. Ana was the hostess and already at the checkin she made us feel so welcomed, relaxed and in very good hands. She helped us with everything we needed and even more, and was so sweet and friendly. The rest of the staff were amazing as well, thinking of every detail and need we could have. Restaurant and food also great. The free breakfast after surfing was a blessing. If we come back to Sri Lanka we will definitely stay at Whisky Point Resort again <3

Everything was more than perfect :)

You will truly relax here. The property is pretty much spotless and located just meters from the Indian Ocean, which means you can hear the waves ALL NIGHT. The staff is super attentive and thoughtful, from the caretakers to the bartenders to the management. I was also pleasantly surprised to find real Neapolitan pizza, a wide selection of Italian wines, and caffè corretto with Sambuca (!) – just when I started missing European flavors a bit ;) And if that wasn’t enough, the yoga classes first thing in the morning put you in a blissful mood. Would definitely come back <3

We stayed four nights in an open air cabana. Was lovely sleeping to the sound of the ocean. The beach in front of the resort had pretty big waves while we were there, but great for a refreshing dip at the shore. Overall a very relaxing vibe. Not many other businesses in the area; a sleepy and friendly town. Staff were amicable and attentive, and the food in the restaurant was excellent, as well as some fun unusual cocktails. Loved the little touches - free filtered water (including a water bottle for day trips), free laundry, fresh towels. Wild elephants are a short scooter ride away.

Whisky Point Resort was absolutely amazing! It was a five star experience from the moment we arrived. The Resort is breathtaking and the privat beach and cabanas are so beautiful and clean. The staff was absolutely exceptional. They were so friendly helpful and professional. We extended the stay because we loved it so much! The Owners are very thoughtful and organise trips for exaple lagoon safari which was great! We are definitely planing on coming again!

This is PARADISE! exactly like I have seen it described in books. Everything is just created to make you not want to ever leave ❤️ me and my fiancé had such a great experience here. When we have arrived, we had a bad cold, and everyone has mobilized to make us feel better: pills, teas, all kinds of ayurvedic medicines were given to us to make us feel better. I felt like we were at our parents homes, and they're going above and beyond to make us feel better. Rooms: we got an upgrade to a room with bathroom and, even though we paid for the lower one, we were offered for free the upper one - very nice gesture 👍 we never slept better - ocean sound and breeze, there is a balcony for each cabana. Super clean, great design, bathrooms are big. Lovely :) The food: Italian base, I had the best pizza ever. Also, we love soup, so their chicken soup is perfect. Staff: amazing. Also, the owners are very fun and welcoming, it was a pleasure to meet them. Activities: the complex is at the ocean front. So we bathed and sun bathed, the weather was amazing. Also, you can learn how to surf, get a massage, play board games, go to safari, go into the lagoon on the beach or by boat, tuktuk to PottuVill, which is much better than Arugam Bay, being more local. I don't have enough good words for this accomodation. I am now looking at options to come back in Jan-Feb and stay for longer than 3 days 😄

The only thing, but this not particularly negative - there is no hot water. But at 35 plus degrees, it really does not matter :)

Everything was perfect. Very friendly staff, the bungalows are very beautiful, clean and stylish, nice beach, very good italian food - we can absolutly recommend that place :)

Whisky Point was exactly what we needed after non stop days of go go go. We fell into the loungers and didn’t really move. We booked an extra night after we arrived as it was just so good and soul restoring.

Having virtually only Italian food on the menu was a bit of a surprise. Until we knew to ask for Sri Lankan by ordering the day before.
