Whisky Point Resort

We didn't want to leave, what an amazing place to stay - it looks even more incredible than the photos. Nicola and Anna are so welcoming, kind and knowledgeable about the area. Mufaris, Murthala and all the team at whisky point are incredibly helpful and attentive. There are great waves for surfing both for beginner and intimidate just 15 minute walk down the beach at Pottuvil point. We found it an incredibly accessible location for all the main beaches but are so pleased we opted for Whisky Point over Arugam Bay as it was much quieter and relaxed which suited us well - we loved being able to fall asleep to the sound of the waves. The food on site is great, and there are good options for reseraunts serving Sri Lankan food and fish dishes just a short walk away. We hope to come back again one day, thanks again for such a wonderful stay!

From the moment you arrive at this property your hosts Nicola and Anna and their team will be looking after you. Their spirit of hospitality permeates the whole resort and they are always ready to help find the things you need, like transport, tours etc. in our case, we wanted to enjoy the wonderful location right on the beach and enjoy the relaxing sound of waves and the wind in the palm trees, so we didn’t go too far. Pottuvil point is 10-15 minutes walk away and is an excellent wave when the swell is up, there is also good swimming out the front if you are comfortable with the swell. Food was better than expected considering it’s all European (they can order in local rice and curry if you’d like), the pizzas are real Neapolitan style, and we enjoyed a sunset spritz before dinner in the evenings. Upper cabana had a view of the ocean from inside and a great balcony for lounging, the bed was really comfortable and the few mosquitos kept at bay by the net. We had a very relaxing few days and would happily go back if we were in Sri Lanka again, it’s great value for money. Note that this part of the coast is a fair way from Arugam Bay and all the tourist action, to us this was a positive but if you’re looking for nightlife this isn’t the place.

Noise in the upper cabana impacts the lower cabana underneath, so we were conscious that a young couple with a baby underneath could hear us stomping around, closing doors etc. Not unexpected and we wouldn’t expect soundproofing in this kind of environment but it’s something to consider if privacy is important.

Stunning located with great attention to detail and so much space truly beautiful. Both Nicola and Anna are exceptional hosts and their team are too the best stay ever and we can’t wait to return

Whisky Point is the perfect haven. The rooms are beautiful and you wake up to the sounds of the sea. It's a really special place, and the staff are absolutely wonderful - whether those working behind the bar, managing the property or keeping the place spotless day to day. We had a wonderful experience and have already recommended visiting to friends.

We stayed in 2 cabanas as a family of 4. They were breezy and super clean, with a sweet hammock and trunk set up underneath. The food was excellent and the staff were exceptional. They were kind, helpful, and genuine. They helped us organize Tuk Tuks, rides, and activities, taking no commissions to do so. The resort itself looked like a postcard, beautiful!

There were a few things we’d wished we’d asked before we booked, like, can we surf and safely swim on the beach in front of your resort? And, does the place next door still hold all night dance parties on Friday nights?

- extreme friendly staff and hosts - the Italian food - the surf lessons with Yasso (highly recommended, chilled and professional teacher) - the style of the rooms as tree houses - the beach - organized activities/tours

Lovely spacious accommodation a little way from Arugam Bay. Staff very friendly and helpful. Ocean at finger tips (but at certain times of year would need to be a competent swimmer)

Whisky point is such a special place and I am so glad that I stayed here. The resort itself is beautiful and the perfect place to escape and disconnect. The staff are all amazing and very welcoming. As a solo female traveller I felt very at home and could have stayed much longer. The food is also delicious, from pasta to pizza and homemade banana bread! The first couple of days I was working remotely and I found it very comfortable with good wifi. After that I spent most of my time relaxing on the beach and enjoying the peaceful tranquility and good vibes. I 100% recommend.

Everything was perfect

We stayed at Whiskey Point during low season and for two nights we had the place all for ourselves. The atmosphere was awesome and despite of staying only for three nights, we felt like family with the staff guys. They had really helpful tips for us. One of our kids best memories of the entire trip is making Pizza in the wood fired pizza oven at Whiskey Point. The Pizza by the way was really good. I also imagine this to be a nice and quieter place during high season compared to Arugam Bay. At the same time Arugam Bay is only a short TukTuk ride away and easy to reach for a snack or surf session. We would definitely come back
