"What a lovely experience all round."

10.0

From the beginning everything was friendly, professional and efficient. The staff in every department are some of the best we’ve encountered anywhere for a long time. The evening meal was outstanding and breakfast was a delight. I’m not going to mention cost because it’s irrelevant. We’ve stayed in many 5 star hotels all over the world and often seen a significant disconnect between the cost and value for money, however, this experience was extremely good value for money. Thank you and well done to all, we would highly recommend a stay at the Crescent and we can’t wait to go back.

"Happy with the stay despite shortcomings"

6.0

The situation was fantastic and the spa was great, especially the inside/outside pool. Enjoyed the meals but breakfast service was poor due to understaffing. Room was poorly designed - desk surface minute and a sad look of the furnishings. Reception was terrible but check-out went smoothly except an error in the bill.

"Not anything like 5-star"

4.0

Fine for a 4-star hotel but nowhere near 5-star. Overall, seems like a great hotel taken over by somebody cutting corners. Poor management. Pro: Good dinner food quality. Attractive rooms. Great building. Spa is really quite excellent. Con: service, service, and service. Staff are hard working but poor management and lack of enough staff shows. Clearly cutting corners. Rooms: beds *usually* made but towels left on floor. Cheap shampoo & soap (or seriously watered down). No place to put my razor in shower area (was given disabled room since wanted twin beds - surely disabled people shave?) No turn-down service which, while maybe silly, is standard in a 5-star hotel. Breakfast: long waits, missed items. Sometimes arrived cold. Juices all budget fare from concentrate. I hate bad OJ - it was undrinkable. Dinner: Nearly an hour wait for dinner to arrive even when not too busy. Bar: very limited wine list. Basic cocktails. Staff: Most staff good/hard working but not enough. Some poorly trained.

"Excellent hotel with great facilities"

10.0

Excellent hotel, with great facilities and well located for exploring the Peak District. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The hot breakfasts were very good too. The spa facilities were lovely and it was a treat to experience three different types of sauna. The crescent room was a good size with a decent bathroom with both shower and separate bath. Shops and restaurants were very close by. Although most restaurants closed by 9 pm

"Excellent! Faultless!"

10.0

Excellent! Faultless! All public areas and our room were spotless. Very comfortable beds with lovely linen and towels. Bathroom was gleaming. Compliments to the cleaning staff who keep the rooms and bathrooms immaculate. Great tea/coffee/biscuit tray. Delicious breakfast next morning with beautiful fruit salad followed by best quality bacon and perfect poached eggs. Spa facilities were first class. Can’t wait to go again.

"Queen Room????????"

4.0

My wife and I booked a booking.com 'Queen Room' at the hotel for 2 nights (16/17 October) with breakfast - Room 403. Registered with reception and was directed to a 4th flr room. The was an attic room smaller than my home bedroom. Small double bed. Very little flr space. We were gutted. It was pokey. It wad dark. It had a small window that was covered roof architecture so blocking any view and affecting the light. It was poor. The shower had mould in the usual places you would expect to see it. We spoke with reception. We pointed out we should have had a queen rm. They explained this was not room title they offered. We had to accept our room. It was apparent booking. Com and the hotel are allowing misleading room adverts. I thought a queen room would be a step up from a VERY basic starter room. Spa was lovely. Drinks - we were paying £17+ for 2 wines. Breakfast average. Reception staff unsympathetic. Rest of staff very pleasant.

"A fantastic hotel, amazing spa, great breakfast, lovely staff and dog friendly."

10.0

A fantastic hotel located in the peaks and dog friendly which was perfect for us. Lovely breakfast with so much choice, lovely juices, yoghurts and pastries - with fresh coffee to. The rooms are lovely, we couldn’t hear anyone else which is nice when you’re wanting to relax. All the staff were lovely and quick to help when required. The Spa was absolutely amazing and we used it everyday after a long walk! We plan to return again with friends and their dog! The only things we noted, which aren’t criticisms but more for improving: Phones in the spa. There were several people just constantly filming whilst we were using the spa and we found that it took away the relaxation aspect of our stay as we were trying to avoid people’s social media. It’s one of the best spa’s we’ve been to, but as a suggestion I think making people put their phones away for a couple of hours would make it nicer! Bath Thermal spa do it with little lock cases. Secondary, at breakfast the system seemed to be slightly disorganised. You’d get shown to a seat and offered tea and coffee which was lovely but then we waited for roughly 30 minutes before having a breakfast order taken - on both mornings. The first morning we had the dog in the lounge and unfortunately we had been forgotten about. We had to go back to the main dining room and ask for someone to come take our order. On the second morning we dined without the dog, shown straight to a table and offered tea & coffee but then waited for 25 minutes for a breakfast order. Perhaps a better method would be ask for tea and coffee, then once it is brought take the order then? The staff were all lovely and were quite busy for a Monday/Tuesday service , it would be interesting to see during extremely peak times how it runs.

"Exceptional"

10.0

This was our second stay at Buxton Crescent and it was even better than the first. The Spa treatments are the most varied I have seen & the Spa itself is is the most superior I have been to. The food in the hotel is excellent, whether it was breakfast or evening meal. It is all topped off by the hotel being well positioned for the theatre, park and shopping
