Bard Cottage

Lovely cabin, sufficiently distant from the city to enjoy being in a quiet and peaceful place, but close enough to conveniently drive there (not very far from main road but we couldn't hear or see it from the cabin) and drive to get groceries. It's very well equipped, everything you need is already there. It's also decorated in a very homely manner which makes you feel very at home there, doesn't seem like a rental place. Worked great for us as a starting base for driving around the island while the sun was up and get back to enjoy the hot tub or look for northern lights in the evening.

The one thing that isn't great is the bathroom, the shower is a bit dated and water pressure is rather low. But considering that this is a distanced cottage not a high-rise hotel in the middle of a city, I'd say that's well within tolerances.

Hot tub was the biggest draw

I grew up on well water so it doesn’t bother me, but some folks may not be accustomed to the mineral smell

The property was warm, comfortable, clean and well equipped. We loved the remote location but that might not be to some people’s taste. Nearest supermarket is approx 10km to the north on the 1

If I had to highlight one thing, it would be the shower. Water hot but shower curtain could do with replacing with a cubicle.

Very cosy, everything imaginable was there, the hot tub was great, it felt very homely. Best place we stayed in Iceland (and we stayed in a number of lovely cabins)

It was a lovely comfortable cottage and beautifully presented.

There was nothing we didn’t like.
