Juma cottages

Juma cottages is a lovely place, a great pool with a wonderful view, delicious food and great staff. We, especially our kids, loved this place so much that we stayed the whole time only in the hotel... we loved it.

The rooms are spacious, the pool is lovely overlooking the lake.

The staff did not interact or provide any information whatsoever during our stay. Very noisy building work is currently going on behind and in front of property. There is also a noisy road right by apartments. There are no mattress protectors, the room was not cleaned in the 5 days we were there we had to ask for fresh towels definitely not a place we would stay again

Great air and relaxing location on the lake. Compared to other properties it was very well kept and staff helpful and accommodating. The rooms were very well built, spacious and excellent baths.

Very firm mattresses and the wifi was at times difficult to find.

A relatively new hotel run by a friendly couple with small kids. The place is squeegy clean without a hint of mold (which is often a problem in high altitude locations in Indonesia), excellent service by diligent, polite and friendly staff who are out to please, really surprisingly good food for in a small to medium sized family-run hotel. We've stayed here twice now (April 2024 and again this month). Last year we suggested that Juma provide kayaks, and they were responsive to that idea. How they have a tandem and a single kayak and a paddle board. Though we were tempted the first time to look at other properties just to know what our options were, we don't need to waste our time with that. We believe we'll keep coming back to Juma. And, by the way, the view from the lake's edge across the little bay to the north at sunrise provides perhaps the most chill, relaxing and peaceful stress-relieving experiences we've had after living 30+ years in SE Asia. Absolutely terrific.

We love this hotel. Unlike many older hotels at high altitude in Indonesia, this one is very clean and fresh, with no mold, with young, energetic staff who are out to please, surprisingly good breakfasts and dinners, refreshing hot water in the showers, stunning views and relaxation spots under pavilions by the serene Lake Toba. This is probably the best place we've ever found to de-stress, chill and renew one's self after busy seasons of work. The owners are very friendly and responsive. When we stayed a year ago we suggested they provide kayaks for guests in the future, and they complied with our suggestion, getting a tandem, a single and a paddle board. They also added a beautiful infinity pool by the lakefront with a kiddie pool.

Hard to say. Juma Cottages is pretty ideal--especially for the price point. Perhaps a light over the bathroom sink would help a bit. And sometimes I'd like to have a small frig in the room to keep cold cokes that I might want to buy at the local grocery shop. But these are very minor things. Jima cottages does a great job, so it's very hard to find anything that needs improvement.

Room is big. Shower water is hot and stable.

No soundproof at all, there is a live house nearby playing music 9pm-1230am at Saturday night, very noisy, cannot sleep. No AC, no slippers, no toiletries, only one pillow for each. Though these are stated in photo & description, still think it doesn't meet the standard of this price of stay...

Beautiful views just next to the lake and amazing gardens. Staff was friendly and readily available to help with any or everything. Helped us get a cab last minute to and from the airport KNO and also help us book the excursions. Breakfast was good and generous quantity. Rooms were nearly renovated so we’re very clean and did not smell bad as you would expect from an island room

Toilets could use some more toiletries; badly was and shampoo were more water than anything. Location is a bit away from the main tuk tuk town so you need to walk a bit (not complaining as it was just a 15min walk)

The staff that worked there are lovely. The room was lovely and clean, and it had great views. Really lovely location for a relaxing holiday, but it's a little far from anything else if you don't have transport.

You need to go elsewhere to find someone to help with booking transport around Lake Toba and to leave the island. If you're a foreigner, they will charge ridulous prices for tours around the island and overcharge you for the ferry to Parapat.
