The Place by the Sea

Lovely property in a great location! Really impressed with the facilities and the cleanliness! We all really enjoyed our stay here! Great value for money, would definitely recommend!

Beds comfortable, that's it

Greeted with a mixture of a smell of damp/chinese takeaway in the hallway as we walked in, expectations went downhill before we even went upstairs. Disclaimer: The smell carries through the whole apartment and stunk our clothes and hair out for the duration of the trip and beyond! The photos of the apartment provided on Booking.com appear to be extremely old and outdated - the photos on here show an immaculate kitchen/living area, and bedrooms/landing area in pristine condition. More accurately what we had (see photos), was paint was peeling, there was dust on the kitchen windowsill (NOTE: There was another review from July 2023 stating this too), sealant cracked/crumbling, there was "debris" on the bathroom walls and the whole place felt it had not seen a clean in a long long time. We were really disappointed in the stay, and almost upped and left but didn't want to waste anymore time on our holiday to find alternative accommodation. There was one sheet of toilet paper left on the toilet roll holder which just added to my annoyance. I texted the host to ask if there was any chance of any toilet roll due to none being left by the cleaners - I received no response all weekend which just made me feel that the host did not give a care in the world, especially given my dissatisfaction with the property (I would've explained this if the host had replied about the toilet paper). I contacted the host to express my dissatisfaction, and was met with a firm defence of the accommodation as well as a refusal to reimburse for the poor experience (we paid almost £400 for 2 nights). Regarding the lack of communication, she had said she had a family emergency - of course understandable, but I wasn't aware of this at the time of my stay. I really question the validity of reviews along the same timescale of my stay, giving this stay 10/10 and calling it exceptional, this was far from the case...

the location was close by the stop for trams into main area as well as a shop for supplies as well as good butcher and chinese. the apartment had a lovely wee roof terrace.

the dust behind the tv's and the smudged glass table. the basin in the sink needs replaced as it was a bit grubby.

The property was very clean and spacious the location was very good and the local shops were very convenient everything you could need on the doorstep would definitely use again and Trish was more than helpful with the requests I made Thank you for making our stay the best it could be

I liked everything about the property

View of the sea from front window and also the outside balcony/ terrace was lovely to sit out as we were lucky enough to get sun the 2 days we were there. Also lovely lady next door had a lovely chat on the balcony
