The Quarters on Spring

Unable to reach office with concern upon arrival. Unable to contact by phone or email. Since my husband and I are in our 70’s and luggage would have been impossible get up stairs. Would have paid different amount to stay on first floor. Pictures were misleading. Bathroom was way too small.

Property was very clean and well maintained and had a well-equipped kitchen and a very comfortable bed. Only problem we had during our stay was caused by a small step between the kitchen and the main room which caused a fall. The owner demonstrated appropriate concern and, in an effort, to try to improve safety since he could not change the step, he applied tape as a visual aid which helped. The parking is nearby, but tight with our Honda Fit, a larger car might have difficulty accessing the parking area. The access to the free Carta Dash shuttle one block down from our building was a definite plus and enabled us to visit the historic area without having to use our car.

The room was great. Very roomy, clean and well maintained. Communication from the staff was great. Would stay there again. Recommended.

The room itself was so much nicer than anticipated. Though it was a historic building, it had many upgrades that made us feel like we were living in luxury. We never had issues with our neighbors, and having a parking spot was nice in the middle of the city. Also, the staff was very nice. In initial communications, they seemed almost overbearing (asking when our flight would land, when we were planning on arriving, etc.). On meeting them, however, it was clear that this was just Southern hospitality at its best.

Some parts of the unit felt a little ragged (such as the molding of the tile in the bathroom coming apart, the couch having many stains, and the paint lines on many windows bleeding onto the panes), while others were concessions of staying in a less expensive historic building (thin walls on a busy street, single-paned windows, shower leaking even when the door was closed). Plus, the parking lot is shared with another rental agency. Our one designated parking spot was taken up by a huge SUV, so we had to take another unit's spot. While the staff quickly got back to us and graciously allowed us to stay in that unit's spot, having your only spot taken by another car is a bit of a bummer.

Clean, bright and spacious suite. Very comfortable bed and excellent A/C. Management was very attentive to requests.

Property was very noisy being located on the corner of 2 busy roads right at the stop light. Also found the location to be far away from the downtown action. Thermopane windows would help with the noise issue.

Need drapes for bedrooms, sun steams in though the shutters. No coffee or tea provided.

Size

I changed from 1st floor to 2nd to accommodate a handicapped person so they said they would reimburse me 1 nite which they submitted to you and I haven’t heard about the credit. The hotel submitted but haven’t heard from booking.com

I can't think of one positive comment about this accommodation.

Upon entering the room, the smell was overwhelming with Clorox and pinesol. We were let in the room early, soon after the cleaner left, but even after hours later, the strong smell remained. After talking with management, we were provided a fan but this did not help. Between the loud dehumidifier and fan running simultaneously, it sounded like a jet engine in our room. We do not have controls to the air conditioning system in this room and it is always warm to hot in the room according to the temperature outside (this observation was made after being in the room for two days). On our first day, knowing a room below us was available, we made a request to move and management refused, stating, "the smell alone is not reason enough to move." A few other things to point out. The plaster on the walls is coming off. This room is small and claustrophobic with the angled walls. I am only 5'2 and hit my head every time I got in and out of the bed or sat in the chair. There were leaky bathroom faucets that I noticed have been reported before and not yet fixed. The bed is so uncomfortable I had lower back pain the following day. The parking location is on a different street with an extremely tight entrance. My husband had to bring in his truck mirrors to get through the wood fencing and barely made it. I have rented numerous Booking.com rentals but this was by far the worst experience the management did not feel my sensitivity to the very strong cleaning products. We are retired and travel all the time and our condos are always a spotless clean but have not experienced the strong cleaning products used at Quarter on Springs. Oh yes, you will climb lots of steps that are not very deep so if there is a mobility issue do not rent this place.
