KONAYUKI

A wonderful mix of traditional Japanese with a modern twist. Beautifully renovated and only 150m to the Akakura Kanko gondola. It is a family run business and Kenji and Konatsu are some of the most hospitable hosts I have ever experienced in my travels. The rooms are quite large by Japanese standards and the place is exceptionally clean. Konatsu is a great cook so breakfast was always something to look forward to, also if you are in need of dinner you can also dine there. The menu has most of the Japanese classics you would come to expect. There is no onsen there but you can book the lovely stone bath to relax in after a hard day of skiing or snowboarding. I highly recommend trying out the Konayuki (Powdered Snow) if you ever head to Akakura, I know I will be back again.

Excellent hosts with great communication and very helpful and accomodating. Kenji was happy to book restaurants for us (was very busy in Myoko and needed reservations 2 nights in advance). We loved the included breakfasts every day - something different each morning to set us up for a day on the slopes. We ate dinner 2 nights at lodge and food was really good value and delicious. Rooms were comfortable. Shared bathrooms very clean. There is a drying room for ski gear. There is a small onsen (bath) available that needs 30 min to be filled. Nice to soak after day on slopes. Transport to different ski areas is available for a really reasonable price. Pick up from train station was really helpful. Just across the road from the Akakura Kanko ski resort and short walk to Akakura Onsen ski area, ski rental shops, restaurants, bars and convenience stores.Hosts can organise discount ski passes for Akakura. Laundry service was economical and fast thanks! Would definitely stay again. Thanks so much Kenji and Konatsu :)

Delicious brekky! Super friendly staff

The lodge is clean and comfortable. It’s very close to the base of the lifts and has a lovely Izakaya two doors down.The included breakfast has a different hot meal every day and dinner is available if you don’t feel like heading out. All the food was delicious. Kenyi does shuttle runs to other resorts for a very reasonable fee. Kenyi and Konatsu are both very friendly and extremely helpful. They very kindly assured us with some translation and arranged to have our gear forwarded while we did some more travelling. We couldn’t ask for better hosts and we would gladly stay with them again.
