Guest House Chara

The Kimura family are such nice people and they put their heart and soul into everything! Communication went well although we had to use an app as I don‘t speak Japanese (yet). The cooked breakfast was delicious and I got good advice. when I come to Hirosaki again I would definitely stay there again! Thank you so very much Mr. and Mrs. Kimura!

My Fiance and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Guest House Chara and I must say that it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly greeted by the hosts who made us feel incredibly welcomed. In fact, we already miss them! The Japanese style room was absolutely stunning and exactly what we were after. It was tastefully decorated with traditional furnishings, and the tatami mats and futons were comfortable to sleep on. The attention to detail was impressive, and we appreciated how the hosts had thought of everything to make our stay comfortable. One of the highlights of our stay was the opportunity to chat with the hosts about the region's history. They were knowledgeable and engaging, and we learned so much from them. Plus, they would offer us free sake during our conversations, which was a lovely touch. To top it off, dinner and breakfast were all complimentary, and the food was outstanding. We were blown away by the quality of the dishes, which were prepared with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Overall, our experience at Guest House Chara was incredible, and we will definitely visit them again someday. The hosts were exceptional, the room was beautiful, and the food was delicious. They would even drive you to train stations depending on your itinerary for the day! If you're looking for a truly authentic Japanese experience, I highly recommend staying at Guest House Chara. It's a five-star experience in every way!

The host Toshiko and Fusao San are very friendly, and they have gone out of their way to provide us with what we need to ensure we had a comfortable stay. Fusao San provides pick-up and drop-off service from and to the Hirosaki station on the day of our arrival and departure, and daily morning drop-off to any destination of our choice in town. Toshiko San prepares breakfast for each guest every morning which’s included in the accommodation. The room, bath/shower and facilities are very clean. The futon bed and pillow are very comfortable, and bed linen are clean and soft.

The location of the house is a quite far from Hirosaki station and no direct public transportation to Hirosaki castle. We didn’t expect, apart from the host we’re also sharing the house with a few other guest groups, and since there’s only one shower in the whole house for guests, we had to follow a schedule and had limited time to take shower in turn which feels restricted. and there’s limited table space for meals, so we also had to schedule time for our breakfasts.

The great hospitality of the owner couple and their very nice breakfast or evening soba! The owner gently dropped us to our location every morning. Great level of attention and service which made us feel being part of their family.

there are some rules like what time we can do washing / cleaning etc .

the staff was so nice and friendly, it is the house of an old couple. its not really a hotel but it just feels like youre staying over at your relatives or something. its very spacious. i really enjoyed the breakfast too.

1.the price was a bit expensive, but it includes transport and breakfast. still its on par with nebuta pricing so it wasnt more expensive than other places but any other time it would be too expensive. 2.the nearest train station is actually an unattended one and there are no taxi or anything nearby so beware. i went to the nearest conbini before my phone died and called a taxi. i would say the distance is walkable but not a lot of sidewalks and dark at night. but the owners offer to pickup and drop you at the big train station.
