Guest House Chara

The owners are lovely and really really hospitable people (with a good sense of humour too). I loved the authentic Japanese experience and was kindly driven to the onsen 3 times!! Hirosaki itself is beautiful and the castle is about a 35 minute walk away, although I personally recommend the modern art museum.

A very small thing but there’s a lot of delicate ornaments around, please be careful if you have a large backpack!

Really cosy place with amazing people, we felt confortable right away. The breakfast was delicious too.

Nothing to say, everything was great!

The best part of our stay were the hosts. They made this stay wonderful and why we look fondly back. If you don't like contact with your host this will not be your thing. But they made us a wonderful breakfast (soup, eggs, toast and fresh local food), they host a happy hour where you can drink and snack for free and they will help you to arrange anything in the city (helped us with restaurant reservations and recommendations). They even dropped us of at our restaurant location. Tip: check their facebook page for a better feel of the place.

There is plenty of privacy, but you are staying in their house. So keep this in mind. They make use of a bathroom schedule with limited opportunities and showering time (15min). Which was fine for us, but might be a surprise for others.

The hosts made me feel right at home, even gave me hand warmers and a fluorescent strip after I had lost mine. The room and bed was very comfortable and breakfast was great. They also offered whiskey and sake in the evening.

Location was a little far from the centre but if you’re travelling by car or bicycle it shouldn’t be an issue.

Awesome and very warm hosts! One of the most enjoyable stay I had in a long time! Nice breakfast and it’s complimentary! The host also provided us with pick up service at the train station! I truly appreciate and enjoy their hospitality ❤️☺️

Nothing at all! But some people might have some issue with the bathroom booking system, they implement this to avoid snatching of bathroom but overall we didn’t have any issue with it
