Touchstone Hotel - City Center

I almost cancelled my trip, but I was rest assured when I spoke with Touchstone. My worries were attended to and I felt comfortable moving on with the trip. The room was neat including the bathroom. It was also close to stores, restaurants and a lot more. I walked to many of the places I had to visit.

Location. Staff. Breakfast place adjacent. Good value. Very clean.

Bed could use a new mattress and a proper duvet. Furniture and appliances are quite dated.

L’emplacement est super pratique. Le personnel est très réactif et au petit soin. Le dinner au pied de l’hotel excellent.

Chambre légèrement petite mais on s’y habitue rien de grave. Pour le chauffage, il y’avait simplement un petit appareil.

Room was well appointed. I liked the architecture and furnishings.

I didn’t like that the room was super small, and the inability to have guests come directly to my room. It’s rather annoying to have to get up and get dressed to go down and meet a guest. Guests should be allowed to come to the room.

Make no mistake - this is a budget hotel, with small rooms. However, the lift worked, the staff were excellent, the wi-fi was more than fast enough, everything was clean, the location was a 5 minute walk to Union Square, and I got exactly what I expected from the other reviews. Despite the room being small, the bill was also small. Look, if you have more money, there are various other expensive hotels in the area, but if your budget is small, the Touchstone Hotel was a solid choice. A laundromat was less than 10 minutes walk away, there is every type of food in the area, you're in the heart of San Francisco, with all the good and bad that entails. It's still one of my favourite cities in the world, despite the absolute bastardry of its governor, Gavin Newscum, but hey, he's not staying in the room with you. Would happily stay here again. Don't expect Marriott sized rooms, obviously, but for the money, I was very happy.

Water pressure in the shower could have been a little stronger, but I had no problem otherwise with the shower and getting properly clean. I wish the room and in-room desk were slightly larger, but again, this is a budget hotel in the heart of the city. The bed was a decent large size and I slept soundly. You're not getting the Hilton Hotel, but you're not getting a 5-bunk room in some hostel, either. Excellent value for money.
