Royal Derby Hotel

Nice hotel in the heart of Fitzroy - such a great location to walk around and get into the city as the tram stop is right there! Comfy beds! Extras like laundry and kitchen available - tea and coffee provided which is a nice touch.

The hotel is right above a pub which can get quite loud at the weekends! We found it quietened down after about 10pm on the Sat eve.

Those damn steel stairs

I would stay here again and probably will : ) It's simple and perfect for working in town. The modern security is very thorough & I always felt safe. Wasn't expecting the bedding to be so comfortable, slept like a baby.

You can't help the location noise, it's what you sign up for but I honestly wasn't too put off by tram rolling by and traffic from Alexandra parade. I slept soundly. The pub noise wasn't rowdy at all the nights I was there, maybe different on fri/sat?

The room was nice and clean, and was never too cold or too hot. The bed was very very comfy and sleeping was smooth. The owner and staff were very friendly and quite fun to be around.

1 issue was the wall outlit was a lil high for where the bed was but thats really it.

The shared bathroom was small but had a shelf set for all your stuff which was great, the shower was often lukewarm and not strong in pressure and the shower curtains smelt
