House of the Snowbird

The location of this apartment was PHENOMENAL. The styling, the charm, and the coziness was perfect and exactly what I wanted from an apartment in Iceland. I would recommend this place to anyone who asked and I would definitely stay here again.

No necessarily the fault of the owner, but the hot water has a smell. this is normal for Iceland, we have learned. but it is something to know in advanced to be less shocked.

The location was very good and conveniently situated close to restaurants, bars, shops etc. The harbour was less than a 5 minute walk and this was particularly useful when booking tours as this is where 'Tourist Bus Stop 4' is located. Most tours will offer this as a pick up / drop off point. The host was very helpful and available to help with any information. The info pack sent to us prior to arrival was full of useful information and recommendations

Part of the attraction to staying here was the beautiful traditional house steeped in history, however the windows are not double glazed and some people may find the area a bit noisy late at night at weekends. I have to say that this didn't bother us.

Central location with included parking. A kitchen with a coffee maker was a big plus! Very cozy atmosphere. Huge living space, plenty of room to spread out.

Beautiful old property in the heart of old Reykjavik, very quaint and spacious apartment. The host was also great, even sending us a message that evening with a northern lights forecast update.

The water in the shower smelled a little sulphuric, but that’s to be expected with old pipes etc.

The apartment was in a great location, close to all the main areas, cafes, bars, and restaurants. It had everything needed for a comfortable stay and felt very cozy and enjoyable. The natural light coming in was amazing, and I absolutely loved the interior design and the art displayed throughout. Having a parking space definitely helped make the stay even more comfortable. Communication with the host, Elsa, was excellent. She was very responsive and kind.

The only downside was that it could get a bit noisy at times, as you can hear footsteps from the floor above, no matter how quiet the people are. However, that’s understandable given the house’s authenticity and age.

We liked everything! The house is beautiful, perfectly clean, with all the required facilities. Very nice and welcoming host. We got all the information in advance and felt right at home. Perfect location with a private parking. Looks exactly like in the photos. Very welcoming and warm. We loved it!
