"Exceptional"

I read some negative reviews and was not sure what we would experience. We were greeted by kind and personable staff who answered all our questions. Our room was clean with a beautiful river view. The food was tasty and arrived quickly to our table for both dinner and breakfast. Keep in mind this was over Christmas Eve and the staff never missed a beat. We had a wonderful experience at the RiverHouse and will definitely be back.

"Beautiful Place, Inattentive Staff"

We were really excited about staying here. We love New Hope and this place markets itself as a luxury hotel. News flash, it has a long way to go to be in the luxury category. First the positives: The property is beautiful. Right on the river. The valet service guys were great - best staff at this place. The restaurant was also very good. Beautiful place, food was good and wait staff was attentive. The room itself was also very nice with a great view. Negatives: The rest of the staff at the hotel is relatively rude. When we checked in the woman checking us in could have cared less if I stopped breathing right in front of her. Clearly it was a bother to check us in. We had a suite, and three of us were checking in, so we needed the sofa bed made up. Needless to say the bed was never made and someone from the front desk had to come up and make it up for us since the cleaning staff had already left for the night. The beds were uncomfortable. The sheets didn’t fit on the main bed, so we kept getting tangled up in them. Really hard to get a good night’s sleep. Bathroom shower was difficult to operate - you needed a phD in Mechanical Engineering to figure it out. The drinking glass in the bathroom was disgusting - I’ve never seen anything like it - especially not at a “luxury” hotel. Now, this hotel claims it offers housekeeping services and turndown at night. Neither happened. They clearly have confused turndown at night with housekeeping. We called to get someone to clean our room at 3:15 pm and were told someone would be there in a bit to do turndown (I thought that came after housecleaning during the day). After no one showed up after an hour we called again, just to have our heads bitten off and told to wait. When someone finally did show up they were not happy that I wanted the room made up. This place needs to stop advertising and charging like it’s a Ritz. And, it would be great to hire staff who actually enjoy what they’re doing and service customers.

"Disappointing Experience"

Our stay from December 23rd to 27th was far from the luxury experience this hotel claims to offer. The lack of basic housekeeping and the dismissive attitude of staff overshadowed what should have been an enjoyable visit. The issues began upon check-in when we came a bit early and my mother and sister decided to have a cup of coffee, hot chocolate and a dessert at the restaurant while they waited for the room. The restaurant was not busy, yet the staff’s demeanor was unprofessional and unwelcoming. She rudely asked, "so you're not ordering food?" and was visibly upset for the rest of their experience. On December 24th when my husband and I realized our room had not been cleaned. I called the front desk to request service, but no one arrived. Hours later, I personally approached the front desk to follow up and was met with a curt and dismissive response. I was told to “be patient” because housekeeping was conducting turn-down service. When I explained that our room had not been cleaned at all, my concerns were brushed aside. Returning to the room that evening, I found it still dirty, with used towels shoved back into the towel rack—an unacceptable oversight. Upon raising the issue again, I was met with apologies but no actionable resolution, as housekeeping had left for the night. We requested a room change to accommodate my elderly mother and sister with special needs, which was handled promptly, but the issues persisted. Neither our new rooms nor my mother’s were cleaned throughout our stay, despite repeated calls to the front desk and front desk visits. When I addressed this again with the same staff member, I was told that rooms are only cleaned depending on the length of stay, with turn-down service provided instead. To be clear, we had two rooms for 4 nights and 5 days and my mother and sister's room was only cleaned once and not once did we receive turn down service. This baffling policy, combined with the fact that even turn-down service was inconsistent, made it clear the hotel’s standards were far below what one would expect from a luxury property. On another visit to the restaurant, my table was ignored for over 20-30 minutes, with the before rude mentioned waitress, visibly choosing to ignore me as she walked by our table multiple times and attending immediately to a table of the same size that sat next to us. Only after the manager intervened did another waitress—who had already ended her shift—step in to provide service. While she was kind and provided great service, the initial treatment left a lasting negative impression. This highlighted the stark contrast between her great attitude and the poor behavior of others. It’s a shame that staff members like her, who genuinely care about guest experiences, are overshadowed by those who do not. This hotel appears to rely on aesthetics and upscale branding to justify its "luxury" status, but it fails to deliver on the basics of hospitality: cleanliness, professionalism, and attentive service. I have received far better experiences at mid-range hotels. For a property that markets itself as a premium destination as you pay the price for, these shortcomings are unacceptable. I cannot recommend this hotel and urge management to address these glaring service failures.

Liked the river views, bars, restaurant,decor, easy accessible parking. Didnt like,complicated shower controls,peeling wallpaper, bubbles in paint on furniture,bathroom floor could have been cleaner.

limited parking, access to car (had to valet), front desk unprepared for check-in (internet was down) and when it was available to check-on timing was very inconvenient, elevator very slow (waited over 5 minutes), room was freezing and heat didn’t kick in for hours/had to wear multiple layers and make sure our infant daughter was warm enough, “mountain view” room was by main road and where cars get valeted-very noisy and could hear valet attendants talking very clearly, dirty ring in our toilet and water coming out of bathroom sink was cloudy/dirty. i would expect things like this to happen at cheaper hotel chins, but not for a hotel that advertises and charges like they’re high-end

The website did not say anything that valet was required or that we would be charged for parking. The valet system was a mess. Too many cars not enough staff. Took 30 minutes to reach the valet. If you ever expect to get any sleep, forget about it. We were kept up till 12 midnight because of all the noise coming from the kitchen. And the noise resumed at 7am. We didn’t get a winkle of sleep.
