The Silk House

I have given this a mid range rating to try and be fair as we did not stay at the property, so cannot judge the details requested by the review. However, after a month of no progress and regular requests to submit a review - I feel it is time to do so. Plumbing issues meant we were moved to another property at last minute. This property was very disappointing. Not anything like what we had booked - but understand the last minute emergency. I have tried multiple times to engage with The Silkhouse, through booking.com and directly by email - all ignored. Ended up phoning Nick (owner), assured of a response, sadly still waiting. Booking.com have also been lacking in meaningful responses - impossible to speak to a human, not interested in chasing the property, AI generated responses, offered 25 euro credit, deposited in my account despite me not accepting it - I have not asked for a refund at any stage of this process. I just wanted contact and a meaningful discussion. An overall very disappointing experience - Silkhouse not interested in engaging with a disgruntled customer who regularly needs somewhere to stay in Leek and Booking.com not interested in supporting a loyal and very regular customer by making it impossible to speak to anyone and not fulfilling their role as the travel agent. Shall be using neither again.

Lovely relaxing stay, the rooms were lovely and clean and the service was great :)

Great host and good location

Staff friendly. Clean and tidy property in excellent location to food and coffee spots. Great for a few days away and closely situated to Alton Towers if you can drive :)
