Hotel Alpenhof Kristall

Nice hotel with a good conditions and nice sauna in it. You need to talk to the reservation office to be able to get in the sauna. Try to get a room which has a balcony if you have claustrophobia though. In the early morning you can go to a walk across to the river too.

Clean and nice people

The staff were so friendly. They attended to us at all times. Great ski storage. Quiet location. Excellent view of the mountains.

Nothing. But would be nice to have tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms.

We booked this through Crystal Ski holidays. This is a Traditional family run hotel, in a quiet location near the station. Ski bus stops outside for lifts to the Penkenbahn. Our room had the standard Austrian twin beds and looked out over the mountain so a good view. A sofa bed and plenty of storage for hanging clothes. A TV which does have English channels, no tea and coffee facilities provided. Very friendly staff, especially Irene who worked like a trouper. Ski locker in the basement with boot warmers. No ski bags allowed in the rooms. The key for the room is on a very big keyring, which if lost will cost you €100. Not the most practical item, but can be left at reception when going out. Hotel is locked at 10 pm so make sure if out late to take the key as there is not way in and no way to contact anyone. Room very clean and soap and shampoo/shower gel supplied but only 2 small containers, best to take your own as otherwise single use plastic and not replenished. Cosy bar area, nice to sit in at the end of the day. Good cafe garden, nice when sunny. Breakfast had usual cold meats, cheese, fruits and yogurt. Juice, tea and coffee. Bread selection and a toaster which can take a while to toast the bread. Scrambled egg was offered with the option of bacon, ham and cheese added. That was the only choice every day, except one day where we weren’t offered it so assumed not available. Just a toast day that morning. We went off each day and were quite disappointed to get back and find the room cleaned, but cups not washed, the bathroom cups were not washed all week and we had a couple of glasses of wine , the empty glasses stayed for a couple of days, we took them down in the end. Same happened with a tea cup. Not the end of the world, but not what we expected. Sauna area looked good, but not keen to get naked. No robes in the room, so have to ask for these at reception. Sauna is not always open so check timings. If you are happy with a comfortable basic hotel, this is ideal. Leaving was a bit stressful as everywhere was locked, we couldn’t get into the ski room to get our ski bags. Fortunately the ski rep sorted and put them on the coach leaving after ours. We couldn’t leave the key anywhere as no one available to check us out. Having said all of this, we did have a good time, I think there is room for improvement on the little things.

We arrived back from Austria last week, having spent a really good holiday in Mayrhofen. We have no complaints at all about the hotel. The owners and all the staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The rooms were very comfortable and kept clean throughout our stay. Well done to the cleaning staff. We ate in twice for an evening meal. Both were cooked really well and delicious. The breakfast was more than adequate, with a very good selection of food. If we wanted, we could have a choice of scrambled eggs, cooked to order: scrambled with ham, cheese or bacon. I had the cheese one day and ham twice....very tasty. The location is very good being a short walk into town and the ski bus just outside, very convenient. We wouldn't hesitate staying here again.

Great location. Very close to town (restaurant, bars, ski rental etc). Ski bus right outside hotel and store room for ski gear. Very very clean and staff always friendly and helpful. Breakfast is lovely with a variety of options. Rooms are immaculate and very comfortable. Homely feel to the hotel which is lovely.

Nothing it was perfect.

Convenient place (next building to the hotel is already in the main street of the old town, ski bus is right in front of the hotel, its also walkable (10-15min through the main street) to the main ski lift if needed/ wanted). The room is convenient (we had a bigger room with a balcony), clean and bed is comfortable. Spa area is nice. Its a great value for money for shorter stays with a fixed budget.

Even its near the town centre, the location itself is a bit weird, near the main street and a gas station, but its not bad; breakfast was delicious but variety is not enough for longer stays; walls between rooms are very thin, you can hear everything.
