The Brakeman Hotel

Wonderful experience at The Brakeman!

The hotel is on the edge of the French Quarter. Generally the hotel is run pretty well but it seems understaffed. When one needs someone to help there is no one around or you have to go downstairs to the lobby, The thermometer in our room was not operating properly and we were told someone would have to come during the day to look after it, We did not want someone poking in our room while we’re out. Got back thst night and complained about lack of heat snd was told they wanted us to switch our room. I asked why I didn’t get a call on my cell phone about this and did not receive a satisfactory response. They had my cell number. It was too late for us to get our things ready to move that night. We did it early the next day, By that time my wife had caught a cold after no heat in our room for two nights. Other things like this occurred. The hotel needs closer contact from management. Other similar things transpired.

Interesting rooms. Well appointed, very comfortable.

Housekeeping didn’t keep up on replenishing our in room coffee supplies.

Super clean room, halls, and lobby. Hotel is safe and secure, requiring a key for nighttime entry, elevator, and hall entry. Convenient to the French Quarter but out of the way and quiet. Staff goes out of their way to be friendly and helpful.

It is a unique building, but checkbinbwasnt very smooth. Our room door wasn't opening properly, nor could we close it. There was water leaking in the entryway from the ceiling. We switched rooms and the only available room had no window. The cleaning was somewhat subpar, there was visible substance on the toilet and hair on bathroom.floor and shower. I didn't complain because we were told it was the last available room. Coffee maker didnt work so we had to buy overpruced coffee at cafe.

This was an amazingly pleasant, three-day stay. Our check in with Rainisha was fabulous; she is wonderful.During the evening, Dee came on and she was also fabulous. These are five-star staff. The location of Brakeman Hotel was super easy, off and on the I-10. The hotel is located adjacent to the French Quarter within easy walking distance, yet very quiet to avoid the "noise of the quarter." The building is a quaint piece of New Orleans history. The room was very clean, well furnished, with a good bed and was super, super secure. All in all, I we couldn't do better. If/when we again visit NO our choice for lodging is already made; get to the Brakeman Hotel, ASAP!
