The Fives Oceanfront Riviera Maya - All Inclusive Optional

Our family of four (two adults and two teens) recently returned from a week at The Fives Oceanfront Puerto Morelos, and we had a great experience from start to finish. This property feels more like a boutique hotel than a large, all-inclusive resort. If you're looking for a quieter, low-key vibe, this is a fantastic option. That said, families with younger children or teens who need constant entertainment might find it a bit on the calm side. The rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. The king-size bed was on the firmer side but still quite decent for a good night’s sleep. There are three restaurants on-site, and reservations are recommended to ensure you get your preferred dining time. There’s no buffet, which we actually appreciated. The food was consistently enjoyable, with plenty of variety. Service can be a bit slow at times, but we never felt rushed—it fit the relaxed atmosphere perfectly. We also enjoyed the live music—during the day on the beach and in the lobby in the evenings—which added a nice touch to the overall ambiance. A couple of things to note: the sargassum was very thick during our stay and deterred people from swimming in the sea. There is a team of folks working tirelessly to clean it up, but it was not enough. And beach chairs fill up quickly. Guests tend to reserve them early in the morning with towels, so plan accordingly if you want a prime spot. The standout highlight of our stay was the service. The staff truly go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. Special thanks to Eli (our host), Eduardo, Stephaney, Misseal, and Elvis at the Romarley restaurant, Felix at the pool bar, and Lorenzo and Ian on the beach. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and always had a smile—even in the extreme heat. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely return in the future.

Fabulous hotel in a great location , 20 min walk from the small town. Right on the beach , which is beautiful . Yes there is seaweed on some days/weeks , but it really is no problem and the gov workers , work extremely hard to make it good outside the hotel. Staff are all really lovely , attentive and its so nice that they spend time talking to you , teaching you Spanish and generally being very helpful. The atmosphere in the hotel is calm and pleasant and with it being a smaller hotel , it feels more intimate and personal. They have entertainment in the day by the beach which is usually good and low key music in the evening by the bar for a few hours. The rooms are big , suite style and you have everything you need.

Just go. You will love it! First impression was a beautiful well maintained calm hotel. The staff is courteous and kind. Our ambassadors Mariel and Mario were always looking for ways to improve our stay. Anything we needed they were always available to assist. The rooms were exceptional. We had 2; both partial oceanviews. They were large, comfortable and clean. Beautifully decorated and arranged and the balcony with the tub was an added bonus and great place to lounge. We opted for the all inclusive option and loved it. The best food and drinks I have encountered thus far at an all inclusive. The staff will easily make any accommodations or changes to your order. From squid to pasta to steak everything was top notch. Yes food was made to order so it took a bit longer than a buffet or typical all inclusive but nothing excessive. The beach was calm, beautiful, and extremely well maintained. Even when a day of extreme wind and rain brought in a ton of seaweed the people on the beach worked to get it cleaned up. We couldn't believe how much better it was after they were done! Incredible work. Loungers were never an issue and available daily. Puerto Morelos town is a 10 minute walk by road or beach. It is charming, welcoming, safe, and beautiful. Highly recommend visiting. The staff! Incredible hardworking people that make this a true 5 star experience. Francesco (the restaurant manager) was wonderful. He would seat us and always remember our drink orders. Open to any and all feedback. Missael, Elvis, Yoe, Eduardo, Abraham made every meal exceptional. Ian will bring you drinks and food on the beach. He is fast, hardworking, and always smiling. The staff will always go above and beyond with absolutly anything you need. Gustavo runs amazing sessions. I participated in several bracelet making ones, the spa oil, ans keychain. Each experience was beautiful and we had handmade souvenirs to take home. Gustavo is the best! The entertainment was not what you see at your typical large resort.... nice calm music in lobby in the evening. Fun bands on the beach some days. Exactly what this resort needs! I will highly recommend this resort to future guests. To the Fives as a brand, cherish your employees. Support them and offer them praise. They deserve it and make this place magical.

Stayed in the 2 bedroom presidential suite with roof top pool and it was outstanding! Rooftop oceanfront views and private pool added to a glorious stay, As a Epic member all our needs and minor concerns we promptly taken care of our by amazing ambassador Eli! thanks again and see you again in December !

My wife and I care for 3 family members and desperately needed a little time away just to relax. The Fives Oceanfront proved to be an excellent choice. This small, boutique resort of 90 rooms with 3 restaurants met our needs perfectly. We highly recommend the all-inclusive option. The food is fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. The drinks are plentiful. The resort is less than a mile walk via the beach or sidewalks to the small fishing town of Puerto Morelos where we experienced a small, vibrant Mexican town. The 2 pools onsite and the well-maintained beach offer refreshing breaks on sunny days. Balcony sitting, leisurely meals, the spa, art opportunities, and live music in the lobby most evenings are soul soothing. I definitely recommend watching a sunrise on the beach! Our favorite part, however, were the people. The resort is small enough that you get to know other guests from multiple countries. We enjoyed many random conversations and lots of laughter. And the staff is fabulous! They are very friendly, helpful, and bring a true family feel to The Fives Oceanfront. We will definitely return for a longer visit!

Guest Reception & Sales Approach - Initial greeting was polite but overshadowed by aggressive upselling (room upgrade, timeshare pitch). - Sales-first approach detracts from hospitality and creates negative first impressions. - Contrast: Playa del Carmen property offered upgrades as enhancements, not pressure tactics. 2. Dining Experience - Service: Staff attentive and professional. - Food Quality: Octopus overcooked, tiramisu visually appealing but bland. - Beverages: Wine unchilled, water warm; substitution offered for Tia Maria. - Overall: Service salvaged an otherwise underwhelming dining experience. Product quality inconsistent with brand positioning. 3. Room Condition & Facilities - Room uncomfortably warm; delayed response from reception (over 30 minutes). - Bathroom sink cracked and poorly repaired; staff asked guest how to rectify rather than proactively resolving. - Jacuzzi outdated, worn outlets, perceived as unusable. - General impression: Facilities tired, worn, and below expected maintenance standards. 4. Brand Consistency - Significant gap between Playa del Carmen and Puerto Morelos properties. - Oceanfront lacks polish, upkeep, and seamless guest experience expected from a chain aiming for premium positioning. - Risk: Inconsistent quality undermines brand reputation and guest trust. --- Strengths - Courteous and professional frontline staff. - Attractive property concept (oceanfront setting, swim-up rooms). - Potential for strong brand identity if consistency is maintained. Weaknesses - Aggressive upselling at check-in damages guest perception. - Food and beverage quality control issues. - Poor maintenance and outdated facilities (sink, jacuzzi). - Slow response to guest service requests. - Lack of proactive problem-solving culture.

We spent four wonderful nights and five days at The Fives Oceanfront resort in a Junior Suite. It was a great experience. The staff, beginning with the concierge, welcoming staff, restaurant staff were all extremely courteous and accomondating. They were more than happy to help with any problem that came up. We checked in on Monday and had an excursion planned for Tuesday that left at 7am, same time the restaurants opened for breakfast. The staff arranged box lunches for us to be available at the front desk so we would not starve. The food in the restaurants, wait staff was excellent. A beautiful view of the moon rising from RoMarly's over the gulf. We were told there was also a gorgeous moon setting to be witnessed at the rooftop restaurant in the early morning.

This was our second time at the Fives Oceanfront and it was another excellent vacation. All staff are amazing. Special mention to the Ambassadors Mariel and Roxanne, the masseuse Noe and Gustavo who manages all programs. The food is consistently delicious. We will be back! And thank you for making this another wonderful holiday.

Just got back from The Fives Oceanfront. I recommend it for a relaxing, quiet getaway in the idyllic village of Puerto Morelos Mexico. To give some background on this review, we are an older couple that has visited both coasts of Mexico and want a quite getaway, not a party vacation. I don’t drink so I won’t comment on that. This was our first visit to The Fives Oceanfront although we were at The Fives Beachfront in Playa del Carmen last October. Upon arrival from a quick, 20 minutes, trip from the airport we were greeted by an ambassador, Roxanna, who checked us in. She asked if we would like to attend a sales meeting for their vacation club. We declined and never heard it brought up again. We were escorted to our room, which was on the 1st floor, an ocean view 2 room suite. The room had a jungle view, charming, but my wife insists on seeing the ocean. They did not have one available but promised one the next day. Inconvenient but we could wait. The next day we were shown to a stunning view of the ocean. Not direct but the veranda was large and view was great. The location of this resort is perfect for exploring Puerto Morelos, a small town I highly recommend. It’s a 10 minute walk to town where the usual sovereigns can be bought. But because of the significant expat population there is a large grocery store where everything is available. I also recommend eating at Pelicanos. Great Mexican seafood. Food at the resort was good, not super. Ala carte breakfast was very good with a choice of eggs, bacon (turkey), sausage, pancakes, waffles, etc. Lunch at the same venue (Ro Marley’s) had a wide choice of tacos, seafood, hot sandwiches, etc. Dinner at one of two restaurants was only okay. I do not recommend steaks. Like any Mexican venue, they have no idea what a quality steak tastes like. I can recommend the seafood which was fresh and good. Unfortunately they smother it in sauces which I think detracts from the taste. But it’s the staff that I have to rave about. Every time we had a small hiccup, they bent over backward to make it right. Im not one to point out personal. It always seems like it’s an insider review. But I have to point out ambassador Eli. He saved the day. When we were leaving and at the airport, I discovered I had left our passports in the hotel safe. He arranged for a cab to bring them to us (for a fee). Wouldn’t be writing this review without him. Please give him a raise.

The hotel was beautiful. Spacious, modern and in a great location (right on the sea, in a quiet location but only 10 mins walk into town - bars, restaurants and live music). The staff were all lovely. The suite was very spacious and had a veranda complete with hot tub and loungers. The hotel restaurants were good although the choice was not extensive. We had a great week there. I gave 4*s due to two issues, - there was a kitchenette, complete with microwave and electric hob. But this was useless because there were no pots, pans, cutlery or kitchen implements. Perhaps the hotel could consider having a ‘kitchen set’ available for hire? - the four wines (2 white, 2 red) that were included in the ‘all inclusive’ package were quite poor in quality. There were bottles of wine available but these were extremely expensive.
