The Fives Oceanfront Riviera Maya - All Inclusive Optional

This resort is obviously beautiful, and overall we had a nice stay. The staff were all great, and it was in a nice location. It was easy to walk to town. However, we did have some issues. When we booked, we found the website to be very confusing. We called to reserve because of this and were forced into the all inclusive package. We kept asking for the price without it and they would only give us a price for all inclusive. The food at the resort is mediocre. We would have much rather have walked to town everyday for food, as the local restaurants are significantly better, but we would have been wasting money if we didn’t at least go to breakfast and dinner. The wait staff were absolutely fantastic though! We loved talking to Hair, and every person we talked to were very friendly. We kept being pushed into going to this presentation for their travel club and it took double the time they said it would. Luckily, the person giving the presentation was very nice, and they were not pushy about joining. They did give us a free 50 minute massage for going as well. The last things are minor, but we forgot our shampoo and conditioner. The shampoo they provide does not lather well and did not work for my hair. Be sure to remember your own shampoo or buy some in town. Also, they didn’t tell us about the activities! We loved doing crafts with Gustavo! Highly recommend checking those out. Overall, we would come back, but we definitely would not get the all inclusive next time.

This is our first time here and we are very impressed with the facility, the adult only rooftop bar and restaurant with an infinity pool is gorgeous with a view overlooking the ocean, Candido (our butler) has been fabulous, he it’s very attentive to every need that we had and is just generally a great guy. Diego in sales has also been extremely helpful in making sure we have everything that we need and want. Overall, we have been very impressed with the people and the facility. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking to travel to Mexico for a relaxing vacation. It is a smaller or personal resort which was perfect for us.

The Fives has been a fantastic place to stay. The views are beyond beautiful. The food is delicious! We celebrated a birthday, retirement and anniversary with our group and the staff went above and beyond with our celebrations! There were balloons, neon lighted signs, champagne, and chocolate!!! Candido is an amazing butler and arranged all of the celebrations as surprises! I don’t think he ever sleeps. He was so attentive and always asking what we needed. Diago was also fabulous with customer service, checking with us several times each day to make sure we were having a great time! We couldn’t have asked for a better crew or place to celebrate!!

This is not an all inclusive resort with your full animation team, pools to party at and all you can eat food 24 hours a day. This hotel is rather a boutique luxury hotel with organized wellness activities daily, option of a full meal and drink plan and a quality onsite spa. I am well travelled and have done more than 40 all inclusive resorts in Mexico and Dominican Republic over past 30 years . Therefore,I am familiar with options available for couples , friends, singles and families . This smaller boutique hotel is a beachfront hotel with 2 smaller pools, one of which is on rooftop and adults only and 2 restaurants and a rooftop adults restaurant. There are 3 small bars . This hotel has no buffet, no swim up bars, no top 40 party mood music, no animation pool games that you find in other larger resorts. This hotel is geared to clients looking for a quiet restful vacation destination about 15 minutes walk to town of Puerto Morelos The hotel’s public spaces are kept clean and in close proximity . There are privately hired staff by the hotel to clean the seaweeds that naturally drifts in from the reef . The service staff are friendly and working hard to serve you in a timely manner. There are always beach towels available but there is a lack of loungers a peak time . Our room was very clean,spacious, comfortable bed with large balcony. But please know most balconies are not designed for privacy even those with the jacuzzi tub option. There can also be a challenge to find shade on hot sunny days . This hotel is geared best to clients looking for small personalized quiet vacation to rest , eat smaller tasty a la cart meals, savour flavourful cocktails while mingling with other guests as you wish and enjoy wellness activities during the day. Note meals can take 1.5-2 hours and you need to make reservations daily. If you’re vacationing with young children, the hotel does try to get your meals served by 7pm. There is an option for Room service but know that too does take time . If your vacation is about making new friends, partying around pool to loud top 40 hits music , get together with friends on your balcony and have your private party, eat generous portions of food multiple times a day or play animation team directed games at the pool this is NOT your vacation destination. Please do yourself a favour and book at one of the many resorts. This hotel is not what you are looking for . The rooms are nice and the section of beach by the hotel is very pleasant. The biggest problem is that if you pay for all inclusive, it is tricky to get served in their restaurants. They have two restaurants and also snacks are available on the rooftop by their pool.. In the evening, however, only one restaurant remains open, leading to long queues. The food is variable, never brilliant but always well presented. The staff are helpful but the service is very slow. You also need to get up early to claim sunbeds, they simply do to have enough for the number of guests they cater for. I would not return there but the area is a definite plus if you want to escape the full on Americanised culture of Cancun.

Visited The Fives for an eight night stay in mid-November. We were looking forward to the smaller resort experience as we have always stayed in larger resorts. Although there were some positives (beach, nice room) overall it was very disappointing. Dinner reservation process and confusion amongst staff, lack of restaurants and food selection, cold food which many had to return to get a hot meal, having to line up early in the morning at the roof top pool before it opened to get a lounger as they didn't have enough, no entertainment, only one small bar opened in the evenings, they didn't allow you to control your room temperature, no privacy on the room balconies, etc., etc. You can always tell how happy vacationers are at resorts by how many say they would return. We spoke with many people over our stay and not a single person we spoke to said they would return. Even an owner of one of the units commented on how disappointing living there was. When no one wants to return that says it all. This could be a really nice resort as it is in a nice location (close to town (can walk) which we ended up going into almost every day and had lunches and dinners, enjoyed entertainment in town even though we were on the all-inclusive plan at the resort). They just need to make a lot of small changes and have management engaged and wanting to make the vacation experience a positive one. The vast majority of the staff were quite nice and wanted to do a good job but were hampered by the structure of how the place is managed. This could be a great place but they really need to get a lot more things right.

We had a very nice vacation. Our butler Candido was amazing. He went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. He met every request of ours. The hotel was beautiful, short walk to town. The beach was extremely clean and was raked daily. The only complaint I had was the food service was extremely slow. All meals seemed to take over an hour.

We had a great time, our butler Candido was amazing. He took care of all our needs very quickly. The best vacation ever. We will be back to see Candido soon. We love The Fives
