Quinta de Marrocos

Quinta de Marrocos is a special place in the Douro, we have stayed here before and will stay again. You know you are staying with family. The breakfasts are great, the accommodations are comfortable. We also did the tour, and dinner which is excellent. We enjoyed some very fine port wine in the living room with César following the dinner and talked with other guests into the night. It is always a wonderful experience at Quinta de Marrocos, we are always sad to leave.

There is nothing we didn’t like. It is an old building that is constantly maintained, be aware that the washroom is small, some rooms might be smaller. But everything functions well and is comfortable.

Location was amazing. We had the entire house to ourselves (with a host) and were treated like family. We also signed up for the dinner and farm tour which were excellent.

Beautiful location. Very nice and clean rooms. Anna was a wonderful hostess. Caesar treated us like royalty, and provided historical information of his family’s vineyards.

The views were amazing, the port delicious, and the vineyard really fun to explore. It felt special to be at a Portuguese family-owned Quinta and learn about the customs and culture from locals. Arriving on a Sunday, they were very understaffed, so our tour felt rushed, and our room wasn't ready but that just helped us to enjoy the gorgeous view a bit more.

They had dogs at the quinta that literally barked every hour of the night. It was impossible to get a good night's sleep because of this, and it ruined the relaxing vibe of the whole place. It was strange because they didn't bark during the day but did all night. If you are a light sleeper, I wouldn't recommend staying here - earplugs didn't help.
