The room had an odor

Location - perfect for what I was in Arcata for (a concert a short walk away.) VERY reasonable price and, an unexpected bonus - really good Sushi restaurant IN the hotel!

TINY rooms - TINY bathroom (the door crashed into the toilet when I opened it - every time). The bathroom is so tiny, the sink is in the bedroom! Noisy outside - we left a window open and the noise from the street, pretty much all through the night, was surprising! Kids howling at the moon! Couples fighting, noise cars starting and growling through intersections, police and fire vehicles screeching through, sirens blasting and lights flashing. Ugh - too much. The included breakfast was pretty bare when we got there at 8am, NO coffee, NO juice, so we just left once we were up. The front desk clerk was going to take care of it, but we didn't want to wait.

Parking

Fabulous, historic hotel in great part of town.

Great location right on the square. Helpful staff. Nice historical vibe.

Don't bother with breakfast. Tiny bathroom. A bit stuffy in the room.

Booked four rooms about a month ahead. Our room - 211 - was very small and cramped, and the bathroom door would not open all the way because it hit the toilet. I didn’t think to check the others - I figured it was an old hotel so this was how it was - but as we were leaving I could see that the other rooms were much more spacious. The annual craft fair was held that weekend (unaware of this when we booked) so rates were apparently higher than usual, but $218 for this room was poor value.

The hotel is very charming. The front desk staff is a bit wooden. No microwave or fridge. The neighboring park is a bit overrun with homeless.

The hotel is very old with old amenities (shower/sink) that need upgrading. That said it’s charming and the convenient location cannot be beat.

I love this hotel because of its historical significance. It’s charming and comfortable. Microwaves and refrigerators are not available in rooms, but that’s okay for this type of historical place. The staff is friendly and helpful. The restaurant downstairs was excellent. More cafes and pastries around the area than we could try during our 2 day stay. I will be back.
