SpringHill Suites by Marriott Hartford Cromwell

My stay at this property was completely unacceptable. We stayed at this hotel as part of a Volleyball team block created by THS. I have never felt this level of concern about my safety and my daughter's safety as I did this past weekend. There were 2 men staying at the hotel that hung out in the lobby area staring at the other guests including our group of 16 year old daughters. The one man was disheveled and wore dark sunglasses while he stood by the breakfast area with his back against the wall staring at everyone. He did the same thing the next night. Then, in the morning, he was removed from the hotel deceased from an apparent overdose. He was wheeled through the main lobby in a body bag. The staff should have taken a moment to ask all guests (including our teenagers) to leave the lobby, but they did not. The police asked them to turn around, but it was not enough. The other man stayed in the lobby for hours talking to the front desk person and trying to approach guests. We could not relax, because of the unease. Additionally, there was blood on the elevator button which my travel companion cleaned off so that our children would not see it. Lastly, the side door was broken and was being held open with a brick. I am very disappointed and I have requested recognition for a less than acceptable, albeit dangerous stay. After not receiving any help from the property, I contacted Marriott Corporate and they have declined any responsibility for this. As an avid traveler, I will no longer stay at Marriott as I have lost confidence in their commitment to providing a safe environment to their guests. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOTEL

Exceptional service, spacious and comfortable rooms. The complimentary breakfast exceeded expectations with a wide selection of fresh options. We were very impressed.
