Shoji Lake Hotel

The location was fantastic. The lake was serene with a fantastic view of lake shoji and mt Fuji. The staff were fantastic and very welcoming. The owner was present to greet guests and was very warm.

I loved traditional Japanese rooms they were vintage and cute, it was almost like staying in a museum, Fuji was hiding during my stay but beautiful views across the lake. The main baths seemed to be closed, not sure why, maybe too quiet? would have been nice to bathe overlooking the lake. Not a big deal as the open air bath and sauna were open, which were wonderfully relaxing.The next morning I used the bath, and again i had it to myself. Breakfast was simple but thoughtful, very efficient and stunning lake views on from the dining room, I can only imagine how amazing it would have been with a view to Fuji. In the morning I hired a bike and went for a cycle to the ice and wind caves, ebike hire was great value from the hotel. I was left feeling all zen and relaxed after my stay at the hotel, a great way to recharge the batteries. This hotel is a little rough around the edges but has a warmth and charm that makes up for it. I could have easily stayed another night. Highly recommend.

View and staff were amazing. All the people were very helpful and polite. They always wanted to give 110%. The owner takes care about everything by himself. My room was rather big and I loved the onsen and sauna. They serve simply but good breakfast. You can rent a bike or go hiking. Both are great ideas, as the location is great. And the view: 10/10!

It’s an old hotel. I mean really old! It has been built around 1955 and you can see it. Peeling paint and veneer, old and lamps, carpeting, windows etc. I didn’t expect that. Some parts were renovated (entrance hall, sauna and bathrooms), but overall the standard is poor

Je suis arrivé à 23h. L'établissement a tout mis en place pour que je puisse arriver sans problème ! J'ai pu profiter de l'onsen malgré mon arrivée tardive et la chambre était parfaite ! Le personnel était très gentil et mon même proposé des photos ! Tout était parfait sans parler de la vue ! Je recommande à 100 %

I stayed for one night at Shoji Lake Hotel with 3 other friends and it was a blast. Hospitality is top notch. Kobayashi san (the owner) has been hands on accommodating us from start to finish. We didn't want to leave. The hotel is well maintained and we also enjoyed outdoor hot spring. I was quite surprised with the quality of toiletries for a small hotel - I was even thinking if I should buy the set especially their body wash. We also tried SUP activity in the nearby lake (additional charge provided by the hotel) and we had blast! It was sooooo fun we paddled to our heart's content. The hotel is accessible via a bus stop albeit the frequency is quite few.

Very nice family hotel . Very quiet and nice place. Amazing and helpful personal. Grate lake and Fuji view from balcony. Can rent electric bicycle.

All was very nice

I had a very nice stay here. It was a very cool experience to stay in a traditional style hotel. The staff was wonderful, super nice and helpful. And I loved the outdoor onsen. My only “complaint” is it’s a bit farther from lake kowaguchiko than I would have liked but there’s a bus that can take you there. And one day I rented an e-bike to get there and that was probably my favorite day of my whole Japan trip. The views of Fuji are unmatched here and that’s really what sold me on this hotel. It was a great place to slow down and rest on a busy Japan trip.

The warmth of the hosts was felt right from the time we parked the car and lasted throughout the stay. The views of Mt Fuji from the hotel rooms across lake Shoji was truly an amazing sight.

The hotel is pretty old and some of the sliding door and screens to keep out the insects didn’t work too well. And the price for the stay was quite steep for the quality of the rooms.
