Clandestino Hotel Pila Seca

What made this hotel stand out from the rest was the noticeable interaction between the staff, they all treat each other like best friends and family and were very quick to make us feel part of their family. From the warm late night greeting on our arrival to every detail and every request was met instantly with enthusiasm. The location is central, quiet and perfectly located. It is in the perfect hub for all of your walking explorations in San Miguel. The rooms were beautifully appointed with local sourced bath products that were of the highest quality. We particularly appreciated that the four large double sashed windows opened filling our room with light and fresh air. The panoramic view of the City from our room was another welcome bonus. We enjoyed beautifully prepared full breakfast each morning. Watching the sunset from the rooftop bar and patio from the sister hotel was a world class experience that can’t be missed. We enjoyed every moment of the week we stayed at this amazing property. Gracias!

The description on Expedia said there was a restaurant (there wasn’t) and had pictures of a rooftop bar area (there wasn’t). Restaurants and bars were not super close. Beds were very uncomfortable and towels felt like sandpaper.

Although we've been to SMA many times, this was our first stay at Clandestino. When I booked it, I did not realize they have 2 locations. We stayed at the Pila Seca property which is an excellent location for walking almost anywhere. The rooms are lovely and quiet. The beds are beyond comfortable. The breakfasts were amazing and it was nice to have the option to eat on our own terrace. What really made our stay was the hotel staff. Every single person we encountered was friendly and helpful. A special "shout out" to Guillermo for helping me with my Spanish.

The hotel staff was exceptional and attentive to our needs. Decor is beautiful and beds were very comfortable. Breakfast, in room safe, concierge and very secure.

The location of this hotel is amazing. So close to all the places you want to go to. Its a very charming hotel with lovely staff but unfortunately very noisy, both at night and during the day. I couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from at night. It was some sound from the pipes I think, as though someone is flushing the toilet in your room. During the day construction noise was very bad.

Great location, breakfast included, friendly staff. There are 2 locations, make sure you go to the correct one. We stayed on Recreo. Very nice modern feel, keeping traditional style. The room was quiet, we were facing the courtyard. The only negative is the bathroom… it’s called W.C. water closet for a reason! You want to go and have privacy but the walls don’t go up all the way up to the ceiling, might as well place the toilet in the middle of the room with the tub :(
