It a lovely place to stay, all green around, all quite and only birds singing. Lovely view out of the window. The ladies very great, always there to help and the breakfast was delicious. I would definitely recommend and stay again, it great experience.

I would just want to warn people who don't have 4x4 cars, that the road to the property is tiny, a lot of debris on it and it's a bit bumpy, so you might scratch bottom of your car, but that is not fault of the hosts.

The location was lovely and peaceful. My room overlooked the garden where the many and varied birds and red squirrels came to feed. The room itself was exceptionally clean and nicely decorated, with a decent sized en suite bathroom. Very comfortable. Corrine provided a kind welcome and delicious breakfasts, served in a spacious and clean conservatory. The location itself is within easy travelling distance of plenty of interesting places and things to do and see and not so nearly as overpopulated as the central Lakes area, so perfect for people requiring a bit more peace and solitude. I would definitely try to book there again if I revisited this part of the Lakes in the future. Many thanks to Corrine et al for a lovely ( if short!) stay.

"Scenic location "

10.0

Room was homely with beautiful views, had a kettle, a selection of teas and coffees and delicious home made flapjacks. Breakfast was delicious and very entertaining with red squirrels popping in to feed and a whole variety of birds diving around. Property even has a drying room, which was very handy after a wet walk.

"Should be perfect but unsympathetic owners and their aggressive dogs spoil it."

2.0

Beautiful surroundings teeming with wildlife, close to awe inspiring scenery and the crystal clear River Esk. Characterful guest house, very comfortable room with much choice for making drinks and a superb breakfast

The guest house is definitely NOT dog friendly. Our old dog was attacked by one of the house dogs which had been let in the dining area by mistake. It bit and punctured his neck, distressing him so much that he was hyperventilating for the rest of the stay and became depressed and lethargic. Infection set in and we had to visit the vets who prescribed antibiotics. The owners seemed almost blasé about the attack and only offered to refund the £10 pet charge. The gardens are supposed to be dog friendly but when we walked there the house dogs were terrifying, snarling and jumping at the conservatory windows trying to get to our dog. It completely spoiled the generally serene atmosphere.

"Lovely place to stay!"

9.0

The guesthouse is set back into some woodlands, with lovely views of the surrounding hills. We had a very comfortable double room with shared bathroom which was easily available even though shared with three other rooms - we hardly realised other people were using it. The hosts were welcoming and very nice. Breakfast options were great, lots to choose from. We were able to sit in the conservatory for breakfast which was very light and relaxing, with a view of the garden and local wildlife, including red squirrels that came to get food placed in front of the windows. It’s a very quiet area, nearest pub is a 15 minute walk. It’s a great location to stay if you are planning on hiking nearby, especially Scafell Pike (25 mins away). Would highly recommend staying here!

The road to the property is very long and narrow with a couple of blind hills to go over. Just take your time going down there!
