The West Bay Hotel

Booked through Expedia and suite was confirmed. Arrived to a room at rear of property after being told all rooms have sea/beach views; also website very inaccurate. View was rooftops of outbuilding, blocks of flats and a hill. Website describes it as spectacular view of Bridport……..ridiculous. No wardrobe or drawers, so we left our folded luggage on the sofa. An ‘A’ frame for hung clothes would look more at home storing potted plants in a garden centre. The result was the room looked like a Chinese laundry 😩👎 One night here would be ok-ish but for the six nights we booked it was wholly inadequate. Very, very disappointed. Very disappointed with room and lack of empathy from tenant. Hoped to find the hotel would suit us as a regular bolthole, sadly we are still looking.

We heard this place was under new management so popped in for a light lunch. I had squid which was really unusual it was in a very light batter and served with a garnish of coriander, red pepper and a little sliced onion along with a tasty dip. Hubby handcs sandwich which I think was made with foccacia bread he said his was really tasty too. We shall deffo be coming back. Simple food done very well with a creative twist.

Really enjoyed our stay. We were in Tally Ho room which was lovely. Very clean and spacious, comfy bed. Staff were very helpful and efficient we enjoyed an evening meal in the pub and breakfast was good

a very friendly welcome by the landlady and gorgeous labrador.Huge room,the biggest comfortable bed I have ever stayed in.tasty breakfast.perfect spot right next to beach with good carpark.very dog friendly.only let down was the weather 5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is under new ownership, run by Clare and family and they couldn’t have been more welcoming. The room was spacious, comfortable and quiet, and Neal’s yard toiletries were a lovely touch. I’m Coeliac and Clare and the chef were knowledgeable and helpful, with many GF options available. The cooked breakfast was delicious. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Premier booked for a long awaited family reunion. The hotel is under new ownership so we were a little concerned. However, the Sunday lunch was magnificent. The roast beef was melt in the mouth, sea bass exquisite and the 3 cheese cauliflower vegetarian option was fantastic. Vegetable portions were very large. Staff very attentive even accepting and pampering our Greyhound. Will definitely be back when we return to WestBay

We stayed here between Christmas and New Year with our dog. The bar is closed in the winter but it was still a great base. The room was great. We booked the suite to give us some room to sit and look out too and to give us a enough space for the dog crate. It was a great place to stay even in winter as there are a few places to eat around West Bay so we didn’t need to drive. Breakfast was nice and lots of choice. The dog even got his own eggs and sausage every morning too! We will be returning in the summer where we are expecting it to have a different vibe.

Old pub, room nicely decorated and huge. Very quiet as pub part closed for the winter. Parking convenient and safe. Only one minute to the East beach and close to local restaurants. Breakfast was a bit basic, although full range on offer, no toast offered with omelette, although brought when asked for.

We had a lovely couple of days at the West Bay hotel. Shaun could not have been more helpful, the room was amazing, and the breakfasts were excellent. Amazing value.

Nice pub that is used to being swamped with tourists and can get away (like many) with not having to try too hard. However, the young lady (Hazel) behind the bar, the beer and the scotch egg were a delight and a lovely lunchtime was had. Thank you Hazel - proving that people are the most important thing in any pub.
