Tried to over charge us when arrived, price of evening meal wrong, over charged by twice tge amount, no one available to serve breakfast we had to phone someone when they did get here they told us breakfast would be another £8 infact it was inclusive in the room price, could go on the list is endless I'd just like to say I would never go back and definitely wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Excellent stay, staff very caring and room warm clean and comfortable. Excellent bed and bedding superb bathroom facilities and a great terrace off the bedroom. Will definately stay again

Well situated for visiting Beamish, Durham, Newcastle or the county cricket ground- good sized clean room - there is a good bar and restaurant on the first floor

Warm welcome and friendly staff. Only recently changed hands so some teething problems. Single beds could do with topper or new mattresses. Will use again

They gave us a very warm welcome and even though it was quite late, cooked us a good meal as soon as we arrived. The room and en-suite were very spacious and the bed comfortable. We really enjoyed the quietness there.

Amazing hotel, very clean and nice cosy room with en-suite. We came for a weekend away over the Halloween weekend. The staff could not have been more helpful, I have been on crutches and they offered a downstairs room and offered to bring food to the room so I did not have to use the stairs. They brought breakfast to the room and Pablo went above and beyond to make our stay comfortable. The price was amazing for the service we received and although I did not sit in the restaurant/bar the atmosphere was really chilled and nice from what I seen and the food was delicious! We requested and revived a late check out too since the room wasn’t occupied the following day and we extended our stay at the hotel as it was so comfortable. The price is very good for the service and room and I will definitely recommend it to anybody staying in the area or around Durham as it’s only a 10 minute drive away. Thanks again to everyone at The Moorings for making our stay a rememberable one.

Lovely modern room , excellent service nothing was too much trouble ... Pablo was friendlly and informative about places in the area .would definitely return . Wish the new owners good luck in their new venture .
