Heating went off woke up very cold Bathroom towel rail not working Shower tray not draining Bathroom basin not draining Doors so heavy my wife couldn’t open them

The food was good as was the location and the staff. The property was also very clean and well presented.

As a general point the pub has a night porter who arrived at 11 pm and then starts hoovering downstairs, tidying the bar area. Moving tables and chairs etc and all this noise is heard in the rooms upstairs since this is an old building with little insulation. We were in Room 2 which was very cold and noisy from the adjacent road because the windows don’t shut properly. Also we had to change rooms because there was no hot water through the shower. We moved to room 5 where again the windows didn’t close properly so again the room was cold and very noisy from the adjacent road. The coop made a delivery to their shop opposite at 0625 on Sunday morning which went on for 50 minutes! In addition the heated towel rail in room 5 which was the bathrooms only source of heat did not work so the bathroom was extremely cold. In summary this pub/hotel needs a fair bit of maintenance to get it up to standard. It is certainly not worth the £200 per night we were charged!

Tiny custard jug with the crumble. Needed another, as you only got a couple of spoon fulls. On the bill they tried to charge £1.50 for the extra “jug” which I refused on principle. Took it straight off the bill without quibble. But I suspect I wasn’t the first to moan.
