The Westbury Palace

The location was great. It is a beautiful hotel from outside, on top of a hill with well maintained gardens. The staff was nice and tried to help as much they could but it felt like they were not well trained to deal with the issues of the hotel.

When you walk in, it feels like you walked into a 'Disney' fake pala. ce with printed out pictures of random European nobilities all around. The entire decor is over the top. That wouldn't haven been a big issue if the infrastructure worked. We were in the hotel for 2 nights and our electricity completely went out 3 or 4 times. The hot water came and went (it was 10 degrees outside!). We had dinner the first night in the restaurant the food took 1.5 hours to come. We were told, we needed to tell them beforehand that we were eating in. Anyway, for the price they charged (5 star hotel price), the hotel definitely is not in that league.

The staff is amazing

The rooms are too small, bathrooms even smaller. They could do without the bathtub in the bathroom to make more space and have a larger shower.

Staying at The Westbury Palace in Nuwara Eliya was nothing short of magical. From the moment you arrive, you are transported back to 1800s England, with the historic charm of the castle exteriors complemented by its absolutely stunning interiors. If you’re looking for a unique and luxurious experience, The Westbury Palace is a must-visit. It’s more than a hotel—it’s a journey through time, wrapped in comfort and beauty.

The shower area was too small

Nice period property. Very luxurious and grand in appearance inside and out. Great garden with view over Nuwara Eliya and lively warm outdoor pool.

Much as we loved the quirky giant Downton Abbey style dinner table in the dining room, it would be nice to also have the option of smaller, more intimate dining tables for guests who are couples.

Location was great! Food was very good with several vegetarian options. Staff was very friendly and attentive and was able to cater to our needs. The hotel was very quant and comfortable with interesting colonial decor. The grounds were very nice

Westbury Palace was a 3-day stop on our honeymoon, and our expectations were exceeded. The friendly staff went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible, the room was great, the pool was amazingly warm, and the food was excellent. The spa treatment we booked at their spa facility completed our stay. The whole experience made us feel like royalty! We would recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a comfortable stay and excellent service.

Felt like an English country side mansion. It was my daughter's birthday and they surprised her with a cake and small party, and upgraded the room.
