We absolutely loved our stay at Alaia Belize. This resort is truly special, and it is entirely because of the people. From the moment we arrived, Eric set the tone. He was the very first staff member to assist us, helping with our luggage and immediately making us feel welcome. He shared jokes, wisdom, and warmth, and without us even asking, noticed that one of us enjoys working out and thoughtfully pointed out the gym and nearby amenities. Eric is funny, fatherly, humble, and genuinely generous in spirit. He checked in on us whenever we crossed paths (always with a high-five or fist bump) and shared meaningful stories about his upbringing and family. Saying goodbye to him at the end of our stay was truly bittersweet. Elvis also deserves recognition. He was consistently kind and helpful, and wonderful during checkout. We wish him all the best with his new baby boy.
Every restaurant on the property was excellent, but Sea Salt truly stood out. The lobster was incredibly fresh and buttery, and the ceviche was unmatched. The staff there made every meal memorable. Jorge had us laughing early in the morning with his playful tequila jokes, Jomar brought great energy and humor (especially during the Saturday night beach buffet), and Jeremy was exceptional throughout our stay. Emily, the hostess for the breakfast buffet, was so attentive she practically memorized our room number. Congratulations to Jeremy on his upcoming summer wedding. Our favorite dish of the entire trip, hands down, was the tres leches cake (we had it three times). Saturday night’s beach buffet was the perfect final dinner. It was beautifully done. At the beach buffet, Anneth completely impressed us with her deep knowledge of Belizean history and culture; our conversation with her was engaging, thoughtful, and genuinely enriching.
The pool team deserves special praise. Blanca was our absolute favorite. She was always smiling, checking in frequently, and making sure we had everything we needed. She matched our energy effortlessly, and it was difficult saying goodbye to her. Rolando went above and beyond, bringing additional pool chairs from the back, setting us up in a prime location, and even reserving the same chairs for us the following day while we went snorkeling. His thoughtfulness and dedication were truly admirable. Aaron at the bar was also fantastic.
Even when there was a small hiccup during our Christmas Eve dinner at The Deck (table placement, loud music, and a wobbly table), the situation was handled with professionalism and care. Our server was wonderful, the stone crab soup was phenomenal, and the following morning Alisha, the reservations manager, personally followed up with kindness and empathy, even offering a bottle of sparkling wine as a thoughtful gesture. Marlan, the restaurant manager, was equally impressive. He was welcoming, approachable, and genuinely inclusive. We even ran into him off-duty while browsing a grocery store in town, and he still took the time to offer local advice.
Additional thanks to Krystal, who checked us in and out with warmth and local insight; Celina, who patiently helped us book our snorkeling excursion; Danielle at the adults-only infinity pool restaurant, who was wonderful despite being short-staffed; and Minny (Minna), our very first dinner server at The Deck, whose humor (and casual “hasta la vista, baby”) still makes us smile, haha.
The spa experience was outstanding. We both left feeling completely rejuvenated. Ginny (Gina) was attentive, highly skilled, and exceptional.
The ocean views were stunning, the pool was perfect, and we did not have a single bad meal. But for us, the true magic of Alaia Belize was in the warmth, authenticity, and heart of its people. We felt genuinely welcomed, celebrated, and cared for as a couple and that is what makes this resort truly unforgettable.
