Palazzo Bifora Mdina

The hotel was absolutely so charming from the start. It is truly a hidden gem in an already romantic setting however the staff the decor, the attention to detail, the food the ambience everything was truly amazing and exceeded our expectations. On a hot July day of sightseeing the pool was the best way to end of our day. We spent a good few hours the next morning chilling by the pool before heading off. Priscilla and Maria and just every single staff member that we encountered were only too happy to ensure our stay was as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. I would highly recommend the hotel and I’m most certainly coming back. The food in the restaurant is to die for. I can highly recommend the prawns and the rack of lamb. I still dreaming about it. Absolutely delicious.

In the heart of Mdina the property was charming and peaceful. We were made welcome by the staff and had a very relaxing couple of days.

The hotel is beautifully designed, with appealing architecture and thoughtful interiors. • The location is excellent, right within the city walls. It was peaceful, central, and exclusive. • We appreciated the thoughtful gestures of complimentary prosecco and fruit on arrival. • Beds and pillows were extremely comfortable, making for a great night’s sleep. Robes and slippers were available in one of our suites, but not the original suite we were in. • Reception staff were responsive and quickly resolved the room issues described below by upgrading us, which we really appreciated. Though it appears they’re quite understaffed, as they seemingly serve multiple roles of reception and waiting tables, the staff we dealt with were very kind, professional, and warm.

The Agatha suite was a major disappointment. It’s much darker and more cramped than photos suggest, with limited storage, awkward access, and a noticeable sewage smell from the tub drain. Its location right by the cafe also meant no privacy when entering or exiting the room. It’s simply not representative of a “king suite” and does not justify the rate charged. • Breakfast service was very slow, taking well over 90 minutes for basic items like scrambled eggs and toast. The food quality didn’t match the hotel’s price point or aesthetic. • The hotel feels somewhat disorganized and understaffed, which affects service quality and guest experience. • Motion sensor lights in the upgraded suite were frustrating, either staying on constantly or not activating when needed, with no manual control. • The rooftop pool area is shared with the restaurant, so it doesn’t offer much comfort or privacy for guests wanting to relax or swim. The setup makes lounging feel awkward as non-hotel patrons come and go for meals. In such a small space with sun bathers in swimsuits close beside diners, the identity crisis of this rooftop becomes more apparent and difficult to ignore. We feel this hotel has great potential, but it currently feels torn between multiple identities—hotel, restaurant, cafe, and pool lounge—which dilutes the overall guest experience. With more clarity and refinement in its service and room standards, it could be a great high-end hotel.

The staff at Palazzo Bifora went out of their way to ensure my stay was perfect. To coming out into the maze of mdina to help me locate their hotel, allowing early check-in and just being friendly and welcoming made the start of my holiday experience wonderful and stress free. A classy, well loved hotel with special welcome gifts, a big bowl of fruit and a delicious bottle of wine, added to their appeal as the front runners of 5 star accommodation in Mdina. A truly unique hotel.

Leaving..as one night is not enough to fully appreciate this luxury hotel.
